There are no "crystals" in minecraft, but there are diamonds, iron and gold ingots, and coal. You may be referring to diamonds. They are blue pixelated ellipse shapes surrounded by dark blue pixels. It is lighter in the top left and gets darker to the bottom right.

First you nab the software at : www.http//:minecraft.net, Its under downloads.
