yes you can have a pet brick.pet bricks make very loverable pets. I have one called ketchup.

First you have to go and get about 8 pieces of wood (any amount under that is good too, but more than 3 works best) if you don't already have wood. Then make a crafting table (4 wood planks in a square). Next make sticks with some of the left over wood (2 wooden planks over each other). Then go into the crafting table again and place 2 of the sticks over each other, then wood planks in a straight row over the sticks. This will get you a pick axe, but it's not very sturdy so make multiple pick axes. Happy Mining! ;)

Really low requirements, the biggest thing is the game is still in Beta so has it's own problems, especially with Java.

Java needs updated, and proper version for your 32 or 64bit system, and RAM is good but maxes out at only like 2GB used even with tweaks, so it comes down to CPU to keep up and any bottle necking your PC may have to slow it down (or bad internet connection if online/servers)

There are a number of ways to activate the portal.

The easiest is with a flint and steel, crafted with one piece of flint and one iron ingot.

The second, and more tedious way, is to set up flamable objects (wool, wood, etc) that lead to the portal from lava and hope the fire spreads. This is how you activate the portal in situations where there is no flint and steel available, such as some adventure maps.
