While MSG was thought to be bad for you at one time recent research by Frito Lay shows this not to be the case. It turns out it was not bad for them at all as they raked in over 40 billion dollars in revenue last year alone with their MSG loaded chips products.
Granted I have a sampling of only a handful of people, and this was not by any means a scientific test and the side effects I note could be related to other ingredients.
Test foods: Chips, Beef snacks, general food with MSG powder added
Possible side effects so far:
Bad breath
Weird aftertaste
Dry/sore throat (starting and lasting through the next day)
More offensive bowels (You can add MSG to hunting dogs' food to make them stop eating their own)
Nothing (from my sample of ~10 people, only two volunteered any side effect)
Any foods that have the label "artificial flavors" (like capri-sun or most drinks) contain monosodium glutamate. Also the food container may just list monosodium glutamate on the back under "Ingredients".
MSG can make some people sick. For me I've always gotten much worse symptoms than feeling sick. If I accidentally consume something with even tiny amounts of free glutamate(active part of MSG) I become almost completely mentally incapacitated for days. My memory will be terrible. I'll be surprised I have a cat, for example. This is not just a little temporary brain fog; it is causing some permanent damage to my brain as well. It's a matter of sensitivity which can be caused by several factors such as low blood sugar, magnesium deficiency and a damaged blood brain barrier. The safe amount is different for everyone and it's not even known what the unsafe threshold is for anyone because damage of a smaller degree may not cause noticeable symptoms immediately but after several years of consumption have an accumulative effect that could cause decreased mental and memory capacity later.
MSG is an excitotoxin. it causes all types of medical problems. it is physically addicting. it can make you feel depressed, give you headaches, and make you more hungry. The food industry has lobbied congress to pass laws allowing msg to be put into foods and not be listed on the ingredients label. msg is a very nasty substance that you should stay away from. eat organic food
It never got sold out actually.. There r actually some seats left... directioners just don't know the real truth and blab abt it..
No, it is not bad for you. The MSG scare arose out of the 'Chinese Restaurant Syndrome'. Dr Kwok blamed MSG in 1968, when patients came to him with injuries. He was wrong.
No. MSG (monosodium glutamate) is a flavor enhancer used in many different types of foods.
Monosodium glutamate is not safe for human or canine ingestion. It may cause immediate breathing issues in dogs because of the chemical content.
it can have effects on your memory
MSG, 2-aminopentanedioic acid, is C5H8NNaO4 and has a SMILES (simplified molecular input line entry specification) of C(CC(=O)O)C(C(=O)O-)N.[Na+]. A link is provided to the Wikipedia article on MSG.

MSG (monosodium glutamate) doesn't need to be replaced. It's official purpose is as a flavoring. It's closest similar flavoring is salt. We are told salt is bad for us and MSG is harmless. Nothing could be further from the truth.
MSG is addictive, causes chemically induced hunger, hyperinsulinemia, hypothyroidism, weight gain. It causes many people to have migraine headaches and photophobia (sensitivity to light).
The best salt to use is Celtic Sea Salt. It still has all of the trace minerals attached. Table salt is pure sodium chloride and isn't very good for us. People report lowering their blood pressure by using Celtic Sea Salt. Most sea salt sold in stores is devitalized.
Eliminating MSG from your diet is a great way to lose weight and improve your health. MSG can be replaced by anything that tastes good. It serves no nutritional purpose whatsoever. Food manufacturers use it to make you prefer their food and eat more of it.
It is used as a flavor enhancer, often known as MSG for short.

MSG is used less frequently as a flavour enhancer than it was some years ago, some manufactures of beef bouillon will no longer use MSG, some will. You need to check the list of ingredients on the package.
Also known as msg, it is a protein dissolver. It breaks down the proteins in the meat that holds the tissues together making it more tender. It is also a first aid tool used in ant bites, bee and jellyfish stings. Put some in your hand, spit on it and make a paste and apply it to the sting site. It removes or breaks down the poision that is in the insects venom and the pain subsides more quickly.
