Okay here is the correct answer: If the phone does NOT have a Sim card it CANT be flashed into cricket. Only phones without a Sim card can be flashed. But there might be a solution to that because the sidekick doesn't require a Sim card to work so just call cricket to verify that you are able to flash it before you go to the store.

What worked for me was to tell them that you're traveling outside of the country for a few weeks, and you want to unlock your phone to use on a temporary service. Make it clear that you don't plan to drop your plan with them.
They will give you a code to dial into your phone which will unlock it. Each code is different and will only work for your Droid X.
