Muhammad Ali was scooped up by a consortiam of Louisville businessman and offered a professional contract straight out of the 1960 Olympic Games - Ali won gold in the Light Heavyweight Division. In 1967 however Ali was forced to find work as his World Heavyweight Title was stripped from him for registering as a conscientous objector to the Vietnam War due to reigious beliefs. From 1967 until 1970 Ali received fees from various Universites and organizations for his public speaking engagements. Ali also opened a burger franchise - Champ Burgers - but this failed.

Before becoming Muhammad Ali the civil rights activist was known as Cassius Clay. Ali's success as a boxer and member of the Nation of Islam gave other African Americans hope to continue their struggle.

I will say I think not! I saw a good deal of M.Ali's fights. I don't recall anyone's face looking like it was fixed fight. Most of his opponents faces were a bloody mess when he finished. That said, could his managers/promoters have set him up early on with "easy" opponents? Sure! they all do! Not really fixing... more like training and advertising so you will hear about them and they will learn more skills without getting hurt or losing...

He lost as they were younger and quicker to him, he was getting old.
