The reason for a bicameral government is basically to check and balance the other house, this is necessary in a National Government and MAYBE populace states. But pointless in a smaller state like Nebraska, it would only and a large unnecessary cost to our budget.

The Territorial Capital was Omaha and with Statehood it was moved to Lancaster which was then renamed Lincoln.

The official website for the City of Grand Island, Nebraska, states that the estimated population for 2010 is 47,621. It could not have grown by 600,000.
