The 2nd man to land and walk on the moon was Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, he was on the same mission as the first man to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong. Since they were both in the same spacecraft they both landed on the moon at the same time.

Alan Shepard went to the moon as the commander of the Apollo 14 mission which launched on January 31 1971, and landed back on earth on February 9th. The actual moon landing was on the 5th February.

Neil was never really interested in becoming an astronaut. When he was a young child he was very interested in planes and he wanted to become a pilot. The Wright Brothers were Neil's inspirations.

At age 6, he flew in his first airplane, with his dad, Stephen. At age 2, his dad took him to an Ohio air show. Flew many planes, about 200 :)
