Who are the most insane killers in the world?
There is a misconception about killers, especially serial killers, that they are insane. Very few are or they would be caught much sooner. APD (antisocial personality disorder) is much more common.
But there have been several cases where the killer has serious mental problems. Andrea Yates, the Texas housewife drowned all five of her children in the bathtub. Initially she was found guilty and sentenced to death. Later at a second trial she was found to be mentally ill, which she was, and is now being treated at a phyciatric hospital. Yates was saved by her very long history of mental illness that was well documented.
Another is Ed Gein of Plainsville, WI. Gein lived on a remote farm and after the death of his father, mother and brother he lived totally alone. The solitude was probably a detrimental factor, humans for the most part are meant to live with others for our own mental health.
And last but certainly not least is Charles Manson. Although most experts believe that Manson does have APD, he very plainly is not of right mind. But even in his muddled mind the true Manson is always lurking. When interviewing Manson it is perfectly clear that tries to control the whole scene and almost never fails to 'creep out' the person doing the interviewing.

Most of the victims of the Whitechapel murderer were killed in the early hours of the morning, between 2 and six AM. The victim Annie Chapman's time of death is of interest because it took place somewhere between 5 AM and 5: 50 AM; in a backyard of a boarding house that was already active at that time of day as was the street nearby. By killing Chapman where he did and when he did the killer exposed himself to considerable risk.

Why do some people think Albert DeSalvo was not the Boston Strangler?
Albert DeSalvo, aka the Boston Strangler, caused much controversy. Once convicted and imprisioned he recanted his confessions to at least 13 murdered women in the Boston area in the early 1960's. His MO (modis operandi is method of how crime is carried out) changed from middle aged or older females to younger and at least one black victim females. He used a knife in at least one murder. Modern criminal profilers know that it is not uncommon for a killer's MO to change and evolve over time. DeSalvo had a heavy-hitter in his corner also. His attorney was a young F. Lee Bailey and he was convinced that DeSalvo was not the Strangler. Even some Boston detectives felt there was more than one murderer. If this is true, the timing was perfect. After DeSalvo was arrested there were no more murders. We may never know for sure because DeSalvo was murdered by another inmate in 1973. He was 42.

The Killers typically come on stage around 9 PM, but the exact time can vary depending on the venue and the event schedule. Additionally, opening acts may perform before them, so the show could start earlier.
What are the characteristics of power seeking killers?
There are different types of killers that are into power. Hitler is a perfect example. Everything Hitler did was about power, how he could use it to better his position of power. He was a real life 'Dr. Evil' who wanted nothing more than to take over the world. Then there are serial killers. Most people don't understand that for serial stranger kiillers the kill is incidental. It's the power over their victims that keep them at it, killing over and over until they die, get caught or just get too old to continue. Ted Bundy loved to watch the light go out of his victim's eyes as he strangled them, in a way it was his demented way to play God. He had total control, their lives and deaths were in his hands, literally.
In the case of Hitler, Stalin and other political figures as well as serial killers like Bundy, Dahmer and Gacy, all have characteristics of one or more personality disorders. No amount of drugs or therapy can help or alter APD and other disorders like it. Because it's not a mental illness but a defective personality there is little that can be done for the aflicted. It is believed by most psychologists that a person's personality is almost completely formed by the age of five. These killers were what they were long before the decision to take another's life. The killings are the manifestation of the disorder, not the other way around.
What type of people were around in 1888 England?
People are basically the same no matter what time period they live in. The people that lived in 1888 Whitechapel have much in common with proverty-stricken people today. They lived lives with little hope that things would ever be better for them. The only good thing that came out of the Ripper crimes was recognition of the horrendous living conditions in London's East End.
Jack the Ripper preyed on women that were so far down, living on the streets, they were hungry, dirty, and in most cases, isolated from family support, in other words they were 'working without a net'.
I'm sure as children, they did not make a concious decision to be homeless prostitutes. Or to be alcoholics. That's what makes the Ripper's crimes so horrible. He took advantage of their vulnerablity, they had no defense against him.

Who was the Torso Killer and was he ever caught?
Also known as the Cleveland Torso Killer or The Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run. From about 1935 to 1938 at least 12 and possibly many more, victims began turning up in what was a poor section of Cleveland, OH. The bodies had been beheaded and dismembered, and sometimes cut completely in half. More often than not, the male victims had been castrated. The neighborhood where the victims were found is economicaly depressed and a lot of the population were out of work. In a act of desparation, Eliot Ness had that whole neighborhood burned to the ground. It didn't help catch the killer and the population complaints were quite loud. Ness left office shortly after this case. For Ness, not finding the Torso Killer was an awful way to end a brilliant career in law enforcement.Food For Thought:In Los Angeles CA after World War II a young woman was found cut in half, and left in a vacant lot. Known as the Black Dahlia, there was soon talk of this being the work of the Torso Killer of Cleveland. It was never proved one way or another.
