How much does an obesity eat in 1 year?

While portions of food may have something to do with obesity, it is also an issue of what we eat, when we eat, if we exercise, body metabolism, eating habits, etc. So, it is not only quantity of food that is st issue. Proper diet alone may not be the answer, and exercise alone may not be the answer. I believe - outside of some medical condition - it is proper diet, appropriate exercise, and everything in moderation.

Why are some people obese while others are underweight?

If you have a lot of muscle mass you could mistakenly be classified as "overweight". This is because the BMI scale, which is often used to classify weight status, only uses height and weight to determine overweight. This is why BMI is mostly only used for screening, and is notably less accurate for men and for highly muscular people.

So, if for instance you are 6 feet tall man who weighs 215 pounds but you only have 1.5% body fat then you are "overweight" only due to enormous muscles yet "underfat" meaning according to the Body Fat Percentage index you don't have enough body fat to remain healthy.

What is the causes of obesity in America?

Answer

Too many calories consumed with too few calories used up in physical activity. In other words, choosing the wrong foods (e.g., that are too high in fat, are the wrong types of fats, not enough lean meats and proteins, not the right kind of carbohydrates, and typically portions are two or three times the appropriate size) and doing too little physical activity with sedentary jobs, too much time in front of the TV or computer screen, not enough time outside walking and playing, etc.

Is my five year old overweight?

I would say a five year old should weigh about 75 pounds. If your 5 year old is over this weight put them on some kind if sport and give them healthy food and only one candy a day. If your five year old is under this weight that is fine. Really the lowest weight they should be at this age is 68 pounds. If they are even lower then this then get them to eat more and if that does not work then take them to a children doctor just to be safe.

Rachel,

I think 68-75 is too high, unless they are SUPER tall. Five year olds should be around 40-50 pounds, but this will vary with their hieght. You should look at their BMI - Body Mass Index instread of just their weight.
