Mounted on top and inside the fuel tank.
Its on the firewall side of the engine, passenger side. Should be under the tower strut brace about 6-8 inches.
in the dashboard, remove the glove box then it is just above the ecm.
Have vehicle scanned to determine the problem usually in the emission control system
sounds like you may need to change the key switch. if you are having that much trouble with the old key.if i had more info i could help more.there are other factors that could make it another problem, but the key switch sounds like your fix.good luck!
for gods sake - read the bloody owners manual It used to be dexcool {orange} but G.M. has had some problems with that. I use a universal coolant I get at wall mart.
To unstick a frozen up parking brake in a 1999 Olds 88 Royal, start the engine and repeatedly set and release the brake. Allow the vehicle to warm up.?æ
reach behind the alternator and down. there is a cap on the resivior. get a long funnel and pour a little at a time and keep checking. although I know that year had problems with their powersteering systems.
195 degrees is close to the original temperature but you may want to use a 180 in the south or a 205 in the Great lakes area.
IT SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE A BEARING IN ONE OF YOUR PULLEYS I WOULD TAKE THE BELT OFF and spin your pulleys ONE AT A TIME BY HAND AND SEE IF ANY OF THEM ARE HARD TO SPIN OR MAKE A NOISE WHEN YOU SPIN THEM REPLACE THEM IF THERE IS ANY DIFFUCULTY
a 3.8 has a timing chain not a belt
That's true, it's a simple in-block cam design with two gears and a chain. If there are no drive-ability concerns and the vehicle starts and runs normally there's really no need to check the chain. If you're thinking the chain has stretched or has jumped a tooth you'll need to disassemble the engine and inspect the timing marks. It's worth the 15 bucks to invest in a Haynes or Chilton repair manual for the whole procedure, especially if you haven't done this before.
If the engine won't start at all simply remove the oil cap and the little extension neck if this engine has one and watch the rocker arm while someone cranks the car over. If the chain is connected at all the rocker arm should move.
Sorry but it is not a relay. It is a power transistor voltage regulator board located on the center area of the firewall and controlled by the Climate control computor. I have an 89 with low speed blower working only. I tapped into the module wire connection to a small switch I installed under the dash for high speed operations.
I would like to know how you go about doing this also. We have the door panel off and can see the glass is out of its channel, we can raise the channel by cranking up the window but when we roll it down the glass stays put, then some time later the glass will fall.
Remove innerside of door panel, disconncet wires from lights and other acc(have a small flathead screwdriver handy)2. remove plastic doorcover. make sure the window is in the up position!! If not reconnect the door switch. Reach in to the guts of the door you might get scraped but this will save you some bucks. Take a 10mm socket and wrench take the 2bolts out hold the mirror so it dose not hit you door and scrach it. put on new/used mirror and reverse steps.
Hi, The starter should be located on the right side of the engine, tucked in real close to the engine. If you will look down from the battery side, you should see the starter about in a line with the front side of the battery. If the starter is not working or sometimes not working, try hitting the starter while someone turns the key to the start position...really, this works. Until you can replace the starter, this is a way to keep going. It does mean you need to replace the unit but it's only two bolts and a few wires and looks like an easy job, you need jackstands or ramps or someone tha'll let you use their garage lift. I have to do this so I've been going through the same thing. Hope this helps and good luck. Steve H.
disconnect the battery, then the wires from the starter. Then remove the bolts holding the starter to the engine.
Was built for R12, should be converted to R134a
A standard torque converter always transmits the power through the fluid - even at crusing speed. This results in slippage and reduced effeciency. With a lock up torque converter clutch, once you are near crusing speed the clutch locks up the torque converter so that it rotates as a solid unit. If you need extra power - climbing a steep hill, etc it will unlock. As a result you have improved fuel mileage and less heat generated in the transmission. If you have a tach you will see the RPM drop about 200 ( more or less) when the clutch locks.
If you mean "hydro lock", that is when coolant enters the combustion chamber and prevents the engine from turning (water doesn't compress)
On my 92' there are two big circular plastic screws right behind the headlights with the hood open, one adjusts vertical, one adjusts horizontal positioning, i recommend waiting till it's dark and parking her perpindicular to a brick wall, the lines in the brick make it easier to get the lights even.
The 1992 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight has fairly unique "1/4" side lock" wiper arm attachments. See Sources and Related Links below for installation videos. Also, purchase the replacement blades first and there will be additional instructions/illustrations on the replacement packages. Its very easy.
