Demerol and Oxycodone are both shcedule II Drugs, but there is a difference in strength between the two. Demerol is usually used as a post operative pain medication while the patient is in the hospital, and it is also used when someone returns home after a serious operation. You have to keep in mind that even though there are so many pain medications avilable for a Dr. to prescribe, specific medications work better on certain conditions better than others.

Oxycodone is a more commonly used medication by Dr's. It is used for moderate to severe pain. For example, it may be used after having your wisdom teeth removed, or if you break a bone or hurt your back, ect..

An opiate for severe pain would either be OxyContin, Dilaudid or Opana but, most likely the last two since OxyContin has a huge stigma around it.

5 mg of Percocet is very weak. Snorting it won't make much of a difference, even if you can fit it all in your nose. Snorting drugs always enhances the effects, however.

It depends on how many you take and your tolerance to narcotics. After taking them for a short time your body will not feel normal if you don't take them. So use with caution.

In all honesty, you shouldn't snort ANY pills. If you are on suboxone, then you are on it for a reason (ie you are an addict, you have been on opiates legally for an extended period of time, etc), and you should not counter act it. Snorting any crushed pills is a good way to get a deviated septum or other rather nasty nasal disorders, including cancer!

Opana is a sustained-release form of hydromorphone, which is a more powerful adjunct of morphine. Because Opana is in a time-release formulation, ostensibly you can't abuse it the way you can with other forms of hydromorphone, most notably dilaudid. It is VERY important that you understand hydromorphone is, again, MANY times stronger than morphine, which itself is many times stronger than street heroin.

Also, there is no other active ingredient other than the narcotic itself in Opana. This is unlike Percocet, which in addition to the narcotic Oxycodone, also contains acetaminohpen. Oxycodone, while a strong narcotic for most people, is still not nearly as strong as hydromorphone. This is NOT to say that one can get away with being careless with Percocet, because you certainly cannot. However, I outline the difference between the two narcotics because, even though there are serious risks in abusing either medication, abusing any form of hydromorphone does, in my opinion, carry an even greater risk than that posed by abusing Percocet. If u have a low or no tolerance to opiates, possibly. Otherwise u will need anywhere from 15-40 mg to get you high. I have a high tolerance, so snorting a 30 mg oxycodone hydrochloride pill gets me way loaded! becareful and have fun :) seriously, becareful you don't know what u are getting yourself into!

It all depends. Everyone is different. I have heard people that have had success with both medications for pain. It is all up to the individual and their own preference. Methadone and Oxycodone are different types of opiate drugs. Methadone is a very long lasting opiate but will not have as intense of a euphoric effect, which helps many people who need to function while on a pain-killer. Oxycodone is a much shorter acting and intense opiate. You will feel a much more euphoric effect and "high" than from methadone, but you will need more of the medication (multiple doses in a day).

Oxycodone is not an antidepressant. It is a pain reliever. There is no antidepressant that works like a pain reliever. See your doctor and get what is best for you.

The only difference between the two are in the way they are bound. Oxycontin is nothing more than time released Oxycodone. Contin coming from the word "continuous" as in continuous release.
