You should leave it to dry a couple of days in a dry environment and at atleast 70 degrees celsius.

Old time trick I lkie it. You actually use lace and lay it on the surface before your paint. Spray over the lace and remove. Best used for base coats as that would be the easiest.

A dome. The more insulated the better. A Monolithic Dome made of shotcrete will cost about a 1/3 as much to heat as a regular house. But, if that isn't your style then the most economical house to heat will be a steel frame house in brick or stone with double or triple glazed insulated windows and brand new weather stripping. In floor radiant heat or radiators will be a lot more efficient than a heat pump and you want to be certain that the attic is very well insulated. If there is a fireplace be sure to keep the damper closed and if there are ceiling fans be sure to leave them on year round. In the winter have them spin backwards if the draft bothers you. They will keep the air temperature more even which helps the thermostat out. Also, set the thermostat and leave it at the same temp. night and day for the whole season. Hope this helps!

Be careful to sand only the decal or sticker, not the metal surface! The breaking of the weather resistant surface of the decal or sticker will allow much better penetration of whichever solvent is used, and thus shorten the time required to remove the sticker. === === An 80 year old lady told me this trick, and it works. Once you have the sticker/decal peeled off, use eucalyptus oil to remove the sticky residue left behind.

you take some water and soak it in your mouth then spit it out and use your fingernails to scratch it off. your saliva is a great chemical that will take it off. believe me i know this from experience!!

A pure liquid non abrasive acrylic paint conditioner will preserve the showroom finish on any color automotive acrylic paint. Black shows the most visual benefit.

That depends on whether the basecoat is a solid colour or a metallic. Metallic basecoats are not sanded before applying clear. Sanding it will destroy its reflective properties and give it a patchy appearence. It must be applied evenly in three coats, followed by a final ''control coat'', where the gun is moved further away , and the speed of the passes is increased. When the basecoat is touch-dry (5-10 min.) wipe over it lightly with a tack-cloth to remove any loose metalflake particles, before the clear is applied.

Clearcoat is optional on a solid-colour basecoat, and if necessary, it may be allowed to dry overnight and sanded with 800-1200 grit before applying clearcoat.

Semi Metallic and "pearl coats" when properly applied should not need the "mist coat" and the clear should be applied as soon as the flash off time has passed. 5-10 minutes is usually not enough for "touch dry" unless it is in a climate controlled booth. And you do not want to add clear if the base coat IS touch dry. It will cause frosting or a glaze. Always read the instructions that come with the base coat and clear coats. If you want to sand before the clear coats, you need to wait at least 48 hours than put another wet coat of basecoe on before clear.

This term is often used to quantify the amount of wetpaint or similar protective substance that has been applied to a particular surface. It is often measured with a rather simple device called a wet film thickness guage. The gauge is piece of plastic about the same size and shape as a credit card but about twice as thick. Along the edge are a series of evenly spaced teeth. The two teeth at either end are the same length, but the intermediate teeth are in descending lengths so that when the edge of the gauge is pressed in to the wet coating, the thickness can be measured by observing which tooth has wet paint on it: the shorter the tooth, the thicker the coating, and vice versa. A more sophisticated, electronic tool is required to measure the thickness of dry paint.

In coastal areas, salt air is a problem for any metallic surface. For example, most marine hardware is specially treated to resist corrosion.

Auto paint may suffer from saline buildup, which can be easily prevented by washing and waxing the vehicle regularly. A far greater problem is rust. Salt air will increase not only your chances of rust occuring, but the rate at which it spreads.


Regular cleaning and maintenance will help prevent salt buildup and rust from occurring.

one of the tips that my dad taught me was that you get a very small amount of whit spirit ans a soft cloth ans gently rub it off. but make sure you wipe it off with water and a mild detergent afterwards. ( I don't know what will happen if you don't as i have never wanted to find out.)

Should be no imperfection in the paint whatsoever. But if the bodywork isn't any good its like putting an earing on a pig

The black paint absorbs the sunlight instead of reflecting it back into the eyes of the driver. This allows the driver to more easily see the light of the signal especially during sunrises and sunsets.

Usually, signals are painted yellow to attract attention from drivers; just as school buses are painted yellow. However, yellow is a highly reflective color and it just does not work in areas with lots of sunshine. Municipalities choose to experiment with different colors and styles of lights and lenses. Some have louvres so you can't see them from the side street.
