When these products breakdown by going thru a car wash,or not properly hand washing with a mild soap swirls occur in the clear coat. Also, wiping the vehicle dry with a towel will create them.

To make your own car wax, heat together eight ounces of carnauba wax and two tablespoons of beeswax in a double boiler. Be sure to stir them well to blend. Once melted set the wax aside until it is just beginning to set up. Then mix in one tablespoon of pine oil and 16 ounces of turpentine. Allow it to set before using.
Can you take your car to a paint shop and just ask for a clear coat?
You can, it depends what you expect in terms of finish quality. You must also consider that there is not much difference in price when it comes to spraying paint and clear coat then clear coat only you still have to sand paint buff the only difference is maybe one or two hours clear coat needs to be removed to apply new clear coat, clear coat also take a great amount of work after drying to achieve oem finish. The answer is yes however having gone that far might as well refresh it unless you just find the clear does not suit your vehicle but that is unlikely.

start with a 1200 then 1500, 2000grit and if you can get hold of any finer 2500 or 3000 then go all the way through the grits up to, i think a 4000 is the finest I've seen, but don't skip any grits. I've found up to a 2000 is sufficient then rubbing compound, polish and wax. remember when wet sanding....LIGHT HANDS, PLENTY OF WATER and DON'T GO TOO NEAR TO ANY EDGES.

Will lacquer thinner damage clear coat?
Lacquer thinner (any containing strong solvents like ketones , xylene, toluene, etc) will damage any paint, including clearcoat. A single pack acrylic clearcoat is most vunerable(thinners will destroy it.) , and 2-pack urathane is more resistant, but will soften on the surface and lose its gloss if wiped with lacquer thinners. Thinners for alkyd enamels is fine. It is a mild hydrocarbon solvent found in wax and grease remover, and won't damage the paint.
Does fibreglass need a special type of paint?
Fiberglass does not require a special type of paint, but the application you're using it for might. If the fiberglass to be painted is an auto-body part, for example, you'll want to use the proper lacquer-based paints, as they're more durable for the conditions a car has to suffer through.
Why is paint work on the car is peeling?
The car was not prepped right. Klix- Wax & Grease remover was not use. bad primer or maybe no harder in primer. or Rust under paint. it can go on and on. I seen one car that had rust pin holes that made the paint bubble from water getting behind. I also seen a factor fender that had factory primer get painted and the paint peeled off because it was not prepped.

Can you paint an auto radiator?
Yes, copper cored radiators with copper tanks should be painted, but the core area should only be painted lightly (only just covering) , as painting heavily will reduce heat transfer. Modern aluminum cross- flow radiators with plastic tanks are not painted.
I would definitely prime the whole lot, and put an extra coat on the areas of baremetal and existing filler.
