Who leads the Pentecostal church?

I am not entirely sure what you meant by this question, but I think you are asking who leads A pentecostal church rather than THE pentecostal church, but I could be wrong. A pentecostal church is lead by a Pastor who is usually selected by members of the church and has been ordained as a minister. My father is a Pentecostal minister. We attended the church before he was the pastor. The former pastor was asked to leave because of some personal issues and my father had just graduated from Bible College. My father was appointed as interim pastor which means they made him the pastor until they decided who would be the permanent one. Another man from the church also thought God wanted him to become the new pastor, so the church members voted and they chose my father. This may not be how every church does it. I do know of another church where the pastor died of old age and the assistant pastor became the new pastor, although I believe they still voted on it. HOWEVER!, if you were to ask my father who leads a pentecostal church, he would answer, without blinking and without a second thought,"God leads a pentecostal church". :)

When are Pentecostals baptized?

Baptism is a public declaration of that decision. A child could get baptised once he/she understands the meaning of the baptism.

Another answerThere are some Pentecostals that believe that a person must be baptized to be saved -- so they would want a person to be baptized as soon as possible.

Acts2:38:

Then Peter said unto them, repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Another answer

Pentecostals are baptized when they believe in Jesus and what he has done for them or as some like to say "Receive him in your heart". Its not just a public display so that everyone can see you, it is a representation of us being "buried with him in baptism" or a washing away of the old man

Is Noel Jones straight?

NO, Bishop Noel Jones is NOT gay. It is sad that those who present their bodies unto God as living sacrafices, HOLY and ACCEPTABLE unto him are often accused or assumed to be gay.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1................

NOone can say if he is gay or not gay...ONLY he himself can answer that questions.....anyone else answering this questions is just making their assumptions. BUT....i will say that as a gay man myself, i THINK he is gay...

Is Bishop Gary Oliver getting divorced?

A relative of mine worked in the offices for Tabernacle of Praise and is a close friend of Pastor Toni. I was told at one point Gary was being blackmailed with pictures taken of him and another woman that he met while on a trip to California. From what I've been told, the man is a chronic cheater. That doesn't really mesh well with his "transparent" approach to preaching. He claims what you see on stage is what he is like in his daily life, but then he tells his congregation that the no one was cheated on and that wasn't a reason for their divorce. He is quite the despicable human being.

How should a Pentecostal female dress?

Well, here it goes, the Bible has its own dress code. That is why Pentecostal women dress the way we do. We strictly abide by the Bible. It is God's word.

Deuteronomy 22:5 states "a woman shall not wear that which pertaineth (relates) to a man, neither shall a man wear a woman's garment, for all that do so are abomination to the Lord thy God." Abomination means "extreme disgust, hatred or loathing." God feels this strongly about the way we dress because he cares about the way we dress. hate is a very strong word. Nobody wants to do anything that God would hate. Pants definitely relate to men. You go to the bathroom, you look at the figures on the sign to see which one to go into. If you're a woman, you go to the one with a dress. If you're a man, you go to the one with the pants.

Isaiah says that if you show your thigh, you show your nakedness. Your thigh begins in the middle of your knee, so obviously, we should be wearing skirts to cover our knees. Of course, when we sit down, it can't show our knee then either.

1 Corinthians says that a woman is not to cut her hair, therefore, we do not put any sharp object to our hair, it is our glory. That means not even a trim.

1 Corinthians also states that if a man has long hair, it is a shame. Therefore, the men keep their hair short.

Some people try to judge us and put us down, I don't understand why. We go by the Word of God. We add nothing to it, nor do we take away from it. I know as well as all of you that there are some Pentecostals who are rebellious and they either don't read their Bible, or they just don't care, that is between them and God. I don't judge them, just as I don't judge those who are not pentecostal. God says we are to love everybody (even our enemies). Nobody is perfect, but I sure can try to be... and that's just what I do. I hope I really do help those of you out there who are truly trying to live right for God.

Another view

All Christians who love the Lord should should dress moderately and not dress in a manner that would bring embarrassment to the body of Christ. However, not all Pentecostals believe that wearing pants are an abomination to God. This is why some people erroneously think that all Pentecostals believe that wearing pants will send you to hell. God looks on the Heart. Once the heart is right, then the rest of the person is right. As a Pentecostal, I never understood why anyone thinks that pants are a mans garment. Think for a moment, did men wear pants during Jesus time? There are pants specifically made for men and pants specifically made for women. This business about women not trimming their hair? The majority of Pentecostals who are Holy Ghost filled do not hold to this view. God does not preoccupy himself with what earrings we wear, or what hairstyles we have. If you have not given your life to Christ, then all of this is irrelevant.

The scripture regarding men and women not dressing in each others clothing was written at a time and to a people whose men and women both wore robes (dresses). There were no pants. Therefore, the scripture clearly speaks of not "cross dressing" or being a "transvestite". Let us not forget that these were letters written by the apostles to churches in a particular time and place. The apostles did not want the people to do things that were considered rebellious and offensive to their culture, either. This would go against the higher law of love (to consider others more highly than yourself and bear up with those who are weaker). Modesty is the best policy. Just like not eating meat in front of a vegetarian. Then there is the scripture about not judging. We need to take the whole context (or letter) to heart. God judges the motives of the heart. This being said, all should adhere to the guidelines set forth by the leadership of the congregation. If you continue to fellowship in the house that forbids women to wear pant then wear a skirt or dress. You can make your views known without bucking the authority of the leadership. Your submission to authority (especially when you disagree) speaks volumes.

One area overlooked by the stricter denominations such as Pentecostals are in spiritual areas. Just as many women crossdress and act like men in the natural, many Pentecostals crossdress in spiritual areas.

The word of God shows us that Jesus Christ is the Husband, Head and High Priest of the church, his betrothed. She is not to wear that which pertaineth unto the man. There is one man between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

He as the Shiloh of God and High Priest, is the only one ordained to wear the breastplate of judgment!

When the church looks down their nose or judges their fellow human being, she is wearing that which pertaineth unto her Husband!

And that is an abomination unto the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!

Every Church with holiness standards will moderately vary according to the discretion of that particular pastor. Trueholiness Churches will have these common standards for women:

  • Skirts below the knee. No splits in skirts or slits stopping well bellow knee.
  • No jewelry, not even wedding bands.
  • Pants are never worn - never. Not even to bed. Not underneath skirts. Never.
  • Shirts are not to be form fitting.
  • Hair is to be uncut.
  • Faces to be clean without makeup.
  • Women should not be dressed sloppily and unclean.
  • Shirts should be high enough to never reveal cleavage, (generally, a 2 finger-width rule from the neck all around). Sleeves should cover the elbows.
  • Certainly no midriff.
  • Skirts shouldn't be all the way to the floor/ hippy looking.
  • Essentially - women should be dressed modestly, clean, presentable, and not in a "look at me" manner.
  • Our hair is our glory, and the Holy Ghost is our shining beacon, emanating the wonder and beauty of God through our shamefacedness and sobriety.

Where in the bible does it say Cain married his sister?

It doesn't 'say' it. It's implied.

According to the Bible, the only ones on earth at that time were Adam's descendants, male and female(Genesis 5:4+5), so there really was no other place to find a wife. When God created mankind, initially, they were perfect, in mind and body, so there would have been NO genetic irregularities. Even after sinning, though now imperfect, they would have been far closer to physical perfection than we are today, so marrying a close relative would not have the genetic problems it does today. Infact, it wasn't until the Mosaic Law was given to the nation of Israel in 1513 BCE that family members were directly commanded NOT to marry (Leviticus 18:9+17+24) .

Who were the women who followed Jesus to the cross?

The answer to this question depends on which gospel is preferred as a source.

  • In the ealiest of the gospels, the Gospel According to St Mark, women looked from afar off: among them, Mary.
  • The Gospel According to St Matthew says that women looked from afar off: among them, Mary and Mary Magdalene.
  • The Gospel According to St Luke says that those of his acquaintance stood afar off with the women that followed him from Galilee, without actually naming the women.
  • The Gospel According to St John says that the mother of Jesus, her sister (also called Mary) and Mary Magdalene stood by the cross with the disciple whom he loved. It is only in this Gospel that the women were at the site of the crucifixion.
AnswerMary, the mother of Yeshua, or Jesus; Mary, His aunt, wife of Clopas; and Mary Magdalene, a friend of the Lord who repented of her immoral life. Also present was John, the Apostle Jesus loved. This is from John 19:25-26.

Founder of the pentecostal denomination?

That would be the Holy Ghost... Pente means 50, the Holy Ghost was poured out on the 50th day as it was prophesied in the old testament.

Acts 2

King James Version

1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

The answers above, based on the Christian Bible are accurate in what Pentecost means "The Fiftieth Day" and how the Pentecost Church and religion derived their name, however, the scripture above does not state the beginning of the Pentecostal Church nor the Religion.

Pentecost: "the fiftieth day" is a prominent feast in the calendar of ancient Israel celebrating the giving of the Law on Sanai, and also later in the "Christian liturgical year" commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Twelve Apostles of Christ. In the Eastern churches, Pentecost can also refer to the fifty ays between Easter and Pentecost, hence the book containing the liturgical text for Paschaltide is called the Pentecostarion.

On the day of Pentecost (literally) means on the fiftieth day and has no reference to the Pentecostal Church or the religion of Pentecostalism.

Pentecostalism is actually a very young religion by many standards. Pentecostalism is a renewal movement with in Christianity that places special emphasis on a direct personal experience of God through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the Greek names of the Jewish Feast of Weeks. For Christians this event commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the followers of Jesus Christ, as described in the book of Acts.

The first Pentecostals were radical adherents of the Holiness Movement. These early 20th Century Christians were energized by revivalism and expectation for the imminent Second Coming of Christ. Believing they were living in the End Times.

In 1900, Charles Parham, an American evangelist and faith leader, began teaching that speaking in tongues was the Bible evidence of Spirit baptism. The three-year long "Azusa Street Revival" in Los Angeles, California, resulted in the spread of Pentecostalism throughout the United States and the rest of the world as visitors carried the Pentecostal experience back to their home churches or felt called to the mission field.

Ergo the actual "Day of Pentecost" as described in the book of Acts has nothing to do with the Pentecost Church or Pentecostalism, rather that they get their name from the event.

So all in all, it was Charles Parham who began the Pentecostal Church (in effect) and the religion of Pentecostalism in approximately 1903, many many years after the actual "Day of Pentecost" described in the book of Acts.
