I'm not sure. I would look up old wive's tales to compare, but the best way to tell is to have them. Sometimes, even the scans will be wrong. So the only way to tell is when u have the child :D But w/ your hips getting bigger, I would just say that it's your body getting ready for the birth, because you need big hips to get the baby through easier.

Yes you can. I'm 18 and 3 months pregnant. I was starting off with my regular periods but, out of the blue my periods just stopped for 6 months I took a home pregnancy test(hpt) it came out negative. In most cases no and I have made that mistake many times. Unlike years ago, where female babies were in pink, the boys in blue, mothers are dressing their babies in all colors so this makes things even more complicated. If I see a cute baby when I'm out doing errands and happen to strike up a conversation with the mother, I ask what the babie's name is and there you have it! You'll know if it's a girl or boy. I've seen beautiful babies and in my mind think "it's got to be a girl" but often it's a boy! LOL
