Who ministered as prophet for more than 60 years?
How many companions does the prophet have?
This is a good question.
True companions should not be considered in the same group as an acquaintance.
With that in mind, Muslims disagree on an exact number.
But in general, he did not have many true companions, as history showed with their actions after his death and during his life.

In this day and age, there aren't any more real prophets around, as the time of new prophesy has passed. Prophets were people who told others of things to come, which always came true, each and every time. If their prophesies did not come to pass, they were killed via stoning or some other manner. True prophets, all of which are in the Bible, were told to prophesy by God Himself, as he created time and everything else, and since the prophesy came from God, and He can't lie, they always came true. Many people in human history have claimed to be prophets, Mohammed like many others, but they are not really prophets. Nostradamus seems to have deceived many, but as accurate as he seems to be, his "prophesies" aren't that specific, as true prophesies are pretty detailed, and plus not all of his "prophesies" have come true, meaning that he is not a real prophet. As aforementioned, all of a prophet's prophesies must come true to be authentic. Therefore, a prophesies are certainly a dangerous manner, because in the old days, making just one wrong one could end in a very brutal death. Also, even the prophets (before they knew they were or even after) wouldn't try to second guess God for they realized the danger too. All due respect to the answer above and anybody who holds that view as their belief, in reality and according to the John the Revelator in the direct translation of his Revelation written from the Isle of Patmos, the Spirit of prophesy is the testimony of Jesus. Another scripture says that God will do nothing save he reveal his secret unto his servants, the prophets. So a prophet is not just somebody who tells of future events. The spirit of Prophesy is the testimony of Jesus. Thus, in one sense, any man who has a testimony of Jesus has the spirit of prophesy. In another sense, "Prophet" is the actually calling of the representative of Christ on the earth, who has received a special witness of Christ, and has been chosen to be a leader of God's organization on the Earth. For in any time when the true church has been on the earth, it has been lead by Prophets who had received Authority from God to administer unto the children of men on the earth.
God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He called prophets, and in any time when the children of men are willing to accept His word, he will call Prophets to lead us and guide us, that we may become like unto Christ.
Important to note: The New Testament tells us that not all are chosen to be Prophets, though we all would that we could have the spirit of prophesy.
I know that God calls prophets today. In fact, the Church of Jesus Christ is on the earth today. The times of actually prophesies of future events has not ceased. God loved the people of antiquity, and he sent them prophets. He loves us, and so long as we are willing to listen, he sends us prophets. He is preparing the world for the second coming of the Savior, Jesus Christ. He will come again.
You can hear opinions clashing between sects, and ask--what shall I do? But if you really desire to know the truth of anything, all you need to do is ask God, and be willing to do what is right no matter what. Seek out the Church of Jesus Christ. It is the one that bears His name, and you will find that Christ is at the head, and Prophets and Apostles are His mouthpiece just as they always have been, for God is the same yesterday, today and forever.
If you do what is right no matter what, and seek to know for yourself the truth of all things, God will hold nothing back from you.
This is how you can find out whether or not there are prophets today, where the true church is, and what you need to do to be in harmony with God and obtain all of the choice blessings which could be yours. This is what is meant by seeking, asking, and knocking, that you may find, receive, and that the door may be opened unto you. I know that these things are true, because I have asked, and I have received. PROPHETS COME FROM GOD AKA ALLAH AND THEY ARE HIS MESSENGERS SO I KINDA AGREE WITH THE FIRST AWNSER, BUT THE SECOND ONE... UMMM DOSE CHRISNTYS HAVE PROPHETS? IF THEY DO I NEVER KNEW THAT. I HAVE RECHED MY POINT... XD FRM: MIMI
Who was the greatest mormon prophet?
I think that most members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) would agree that it is inappropriate to say that one prophet is greater than another, since they are all called by God to lead.
However, some mayfeel justified in saying that one is greater than another, and certainly most have a favorite or two.
Some may say that Joseph Smith was the greatest Mormon prophet. He organized the Church, was the first prophet of this dispensation, and is the only prophet thus far to die in defense of the Church.
Others may say that the current prophet is the greatest, because his teachings are meant specifically for us at this point in time.
Others might choose a prophet that lead for a long period of time or that is known for overseeing some major positive changes in the Church. For example, Brigham Young, Wilford Woodruff, David O. McKay, Spencer W. Kimball, and Gordon B. Hinckley.
