How long can an formula 1 car maintain its top speed?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A F1 car does not reach 200 mph speed. The fastest known F1 cars have been in the range of 325 kmph which works out to around 185 mph. The time taken by a f1 car to reach speeds are:

0 to 100 kmph (62 mph): 2 seconds

0 to 200 kmph (124 mph): 4 seconds

9 to 300 kmph (185 mph): 9 seconds

The numbers above are indicative and may depend heavily on the cars aerodynamic set up and gearing ratios. Also, the time taken might differ from one f1 car to another.

Is barrel racing dangerious?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Horses have a mind of their own so yes any kind of horse riding could be considered dangerous but Barrel Racing is definitely going to be on the higher danger scale. I mean you're running break neck speeds around barrels if you're advanced and any fall off a horse can hurt. So yes ultimately it's dangerous but it you have the proper training, a good horse, and are safely equipped and don't try to do things in a dangerous way such as velcro or rubber band your feet to the stirrups you should have a great experience and be able to get right back on if you have the occasional fall.

Why was NASCAR invented?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

NASCAR stands for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. A mechanic from Atlanta named Red Vogt came up with the acronim and the name. Red Vogt was the mechanic for Red Byron, NASCAR's first champion. He owned a garage on Hemphill avenue in Atlanta where moonshiners running shine from Dawsonville GA into Atlanta could get their cars "supped up" to outrun law enforcement. The owner of Red Byrons car was Raymond Parks a known moonshiner who still owns a liquor store on Northside drive in Atlanta. Parks, Byron and Vogt were NASCARs first 'team'. these men all met with Bill France in Daytona at Hotel on the beach. They all came together to form the organization that we all know as NASCAR today. What race is the Algerian race?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

That would depend on which definition you would use to define 'race'.

Assuming you use the somewhat outdated biological method the Algerians would fall into the Mongoloid race. In this biological outlook there are only three races, Caucasoid, Negroid and Mongoloid.

Another Biological approach is blood types or genes which would vary from individual to individual.

Assuming you use a sociocultural, or a geographical definition the Algerians would be a race to themselves.

If you use an economic definition all the Algerians would not be classed in the same race, other than possibly a 'Third World' or something to that extent.

'Race' is a term which is falling away in the scientific world.

How do you win a drag race?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

it all depends. i drive bracket races. that's not as easy. its not who gets to the finish line first its who races closest to their time. lets say i dial in at 7.90 and run a 7.92 and the other guy dials in at 7.92 but races a 7.95 i win because i was only .2 seconds away from my time the other guy is .3 seconds away. or theres the wholeshot win, when one person wins because he got the better reaction time by alot. if you leave before the light turns green that's called red lighting in wich case you lose. in a speed race the first person to reach the finish line wins. all wholeshot wins and redlights are the same in either race.

How many people have died in motorsports?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

These death include all ATV riding, racing is not mentioned, but it shows you how dangerous ATV riding can be without proper instruction and supervision.

Scott Wolfson, spokesman for the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, said, "We have data that's showing more than 400 deaths per year with ATVs nationally, and the state of Florida ranks among the top 10 in ATV-related deaths. We have seen an increase in death and injuries as these ATVs have become more popular." That includes 72 deaths in Florida from 2002 through 2004, the last period for which data is available, Wolfson said. About a third of deaths and injuries involve victims under 16. * http://www.sptimes.com/2006/08/15/Tampabay/ATV_usage__injuries_o.shtmlMore info:

"Kentucky topped a national list of states with the highest fatality rate caused by all-terrain vehicles in the Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC) annual report," stated the Murray State News' Web site. The site explained, Kentucky totaled 367 ATV related deaths in 2006 and among those about 30 percent were children under the age of 16. Pennsylvania, California, West Virginia and Texas were the other states with the highest number of ATV related deaths, the site added. "The CPSC outlines several tips like being trained, wearing protective gear, never riding as a passenger or riding with a passenger and not driving under the influence in order to operate ATVs safely," the News said.

Is a drag racing car the fastest thing on earth?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Drag car:

The world record for a 1/4 mile standing start pass is 4.428 seconds with a speed of 336.15 miles per hour (540.98 km/h).

Space Transportation System (STS) otherwise known as NASA's space shuttles such as the Challenger and Columbia:

Speed: 7,743 m/s (27,870 km/h; 17,320 mph)

It is often related that Top Fuel dragsters are the fastest accelerating vehicles on Earth even faster than the acceleration of a STS. The top speed however of these two vehicles are polar opposites.

Dragster world record top speed of 336.15mph

STS can reach speeds of 17,320 (yes 17,320) mph

So I guess if you raced a dragster against a space shuttle in a quarter mile, the dragster would win that race. As to which is "faster?" I'd say 17,000mph takes the cake.
