What is agroforestry?

is an agricultural approch of using the interactive benefits from combining trees and shrubs with crops and/or livestock. it combines agriculture and forestry technologies to create more integrated diverse, productive, profitable, healthy and sustainable land-use systems

Does a tree in the rainforest have growth rings?

Tropical rainforestsdon't experience the winter and summer extremes seen in temperate rainforests. Often, tropical trees grow in a similar way all year round, meaning growth rings are not apparent. However, tropical regions do experience seasonal changes, such as rainy versus dry seasons. Some tropical trees, like teak, have obvious growth rings that reflect this. Others have more subtle rings, revealed only by chemical analysis of the wood. X-ray analysis looks at calcium taken up by cells during the growing season. There is clearly a difference between the calcium content of wood during the wet and dry seasons that compares favourably with carbon isotope measurements.

Which frogs are endangered?

There are many different endangered frog species but i cant name them all.

Is it legal to show pictures of your girlfriend on your website?

Maybe, maybe not. And legal doesn't necessarily mean it's acceptable or that you ''can'' do it. *are the pictures pornographic? While there are plenty of sites that are specifically designed for just such a purpose, there are a lot more webspace providers/hosts that would consider it a violation of their rules. *has she consented? Even it is legal to post her photos without her knowledge, it's certainly not a considerate thing to do and maybe not be the wisest either. *are the photos copyright protected? If they were taken by a professional photographer, you can't legally post the photos without the photographers permission. However, if you took the pix yourself you own the copyright. The safest things to do in ''all'' of these cases would be to get her permission (written would be ideal, just in case the two of you break up) and to read your host's TOS And finally, this is more important than anything else... *Is she a minor? If she is, it would be safest not to post them at all. If she's a minor and the pictures are overtly sexual in nature or even just sexually suggestive...forget it. Child pornography is a very serious crime. I would suggest you visit a website where you can ask for legal advice like freeadvice.com or www.worldlawdirect.com/asklawyer If you are still uncertain about legality, err on the side of caution and don't do it.

Why should you not protect the tropical rainforest?

You should not protect tropical rain forests because why do we need rain forests.

Who cut down the Kauri trees?

nobody cut the trees down they just dug for from underground because if they did cut the trees down there would be no more kauri trees left in the world

Give two whys Why can fewer mammals and birds survive after trees have been cut down?

fewer mammals and birds can survive after trees have been cut down because it is their habitat and their food. cutting trees down will cause loss of habitat, and if there are too many animals of one species in the area, then some will die, especially the weaker ones. another problem with cutting trees down is that it no longer provides the oxygen that we need to survive. if we were to cut all the trees down, it would not be long until planet earth reflects what it is like to be in space, and everyone would die.

How can you get neighbors to keep the noise down after 10pm?

Check your local government ordinances. In Tucson, AZ, 10p.m. is the time when all must be quiet, and the police will ticket occupants when they are too noisy. If the neighbors are military, a call to the base will ensure that they end up in base housing in short order.

Why does Australia does not have green forests?

actually there are a lot. most of the rainforests in Australia are found in Tasmania. Kangaroos live in the forests and also koala bears that are only found in Australia. also in Australia they experience huge bush fires or forest fires.

How many Predators are in the Rainforest?

Alot but if you had to break it down like a brain surgeon you would have to break every entire animal and being down into the animal kingdom, YOu would have to examine every single phylum (same body plan classification). You have so many different types of animals, insects, snakes, lizards, etc.... vertibrates, invertibrates and most of these feed on flesh of some sort. not to scare you but to be honest. You asked. A ballpark figure is probably about 2.2 million atleast if not billion predators in the rain forest but 2.2 sounds about right.

What is shift cultivation?

Shifting cultivation is an agricultural system in which plots of land are cultivated temporarily, then abandoned. This system often involves clearing of a piece of land followed by several years of wood harvesting or farming, until the soil loses fertility. Once the land becomes inadequate for crop production, it is left to be reclaimed by natural vegetation, or sometimes converted to a different long-term cyclical farming practice.
they work by using the slash and burn cycle this means they take a part of a forest slash the trees down and burn it to get more minerals when the make it into a patch. And after a few years they move on after the crop drops and do the same thing again!

Why would the amount of photosynthesis be lower in a desert than in a tropical rain forest even if there is plenty of light?

The amount of photosynthesis in a desert is lower. This is because the lack of greenery causes the photosynthesis to slow down.

How do the adaptations help the animals to survive?

Their mother's ween them from breast milk around the age of 4. The mother helps them attain solid food, but, slowly, the child fends for itself more and more. It is around the age of 7 that they begin to feed themselves exclusively.

What would happen if the rain forest were destroyed?

Many animals wouldn't have anywhere to live and would sadly die. The rain forest as it name states is mostly characterised by heavy rainfall.

If this rainforest is destroyed, there are just so many terrible things and catastrophes one would not imagine. The rainforest due to its heavy rainfall, has an unlimited varieties of plants and animals. This is because like we all know, the heavy rain improves on the soil fertility, creates passages in the soil for easy infiltration of chemicals into the soil so plants grow in a vast manner that's why it is also characterised by an evergreen forest. Evergreen in the sense that it is round the year green.

This same Rainforest with its variety of animals species gives it a huge and unlimited supply of carbon dioxide for its plants during photosynthesis and vice versa. Can we then imagine if these things where not there what would happen to this forest. The animals, when dead, provide fertilizer to the soil after haven been decomposed by the unlimited variety of micro organisms too.

Let's say this forest was destroyed by whatever means unknown:

The plants will be cut down and the evergreen nature will become ever brown meaning, the soils will remain naked in term of biology, the micro organisms will die of hunger because they have nothing to feed on,the animals will become extinct since they do not have a habitat nor food to eat excluding the Carnivores who will eat on the herbivores and the herbivores will feed on nothing so they will finally be greatly endangered.

The climate on its part will be polluted greatly with the huge carbon dioxide from the animals since there are no trees to use the carbon dioxide and during burning if in case the destruction was catalysed by burning hence, Global warming. This same climate will be deprived of rain because rain doesn't only fall but need a cyclic pathway which is transpiration from trees, evaporation from the soil and respiration from animals and guess what happens if these sources are not there.

What extent did technology affect World War 1?

Technology was the single biggest factor in WW1 being waged the way it was.

Military strategy had yet to fully understand how to use recent technological advances (particularly, the machinegun, heavy artillery, and the submarine). As a consequence, old strategies turned out to be completely useless (or, worse, massive failures). The manner in which most of the fighting in WW1 occurred reflects military leadership slowly groping about to fully understand how these new technologies worked, and the implications for strategy and tactics. That is, how to effectively use these new weapons, and, on the other side, how to effectively counter their use.

The sad fact is that military leadership on both sides during WW1 was sadly lacking in intelligence and the ability to grasp that these new technologies had radically changed warfare, and that a corresponding whole new paradigm of tactics was required. Their stupidity cost Europeans 4 long years of war, and 10 million deaths.
