What are some disadvantanges of refrigeration?
Freezer burn? BoNgWiZarD: Refrigeration uses specialised equipment (which can be quite expensive in some countries) and can use a rather substantial amount of energy. Also, the refrigerants can be somewhat harmful to the environment (modern gases contribute to mainly to the greenhouse effect and not ozone depletion as did older refrigerants)

Why are two changes of state of the refrigerant necessary to operate a refrigerator?
Two changes of state of the refrigerant are necessary to operate a refrigerator because it allows the refrigerant to absorb heat inside the refrigerator as a liquid and release heat outside the refrigerator as a gas, thus facilitating the cooling process efficiently. The changes in state from liquid to gas and gas to liquid help maintain the desired temperature inside the refrigerator.
What role play bi metal in frost free refrigerator?
I was having a problem with my freezer-it was frosting up along the back wall and making a buzzing sound. The repairman replace the "Bi-Metal" which is a little device with 2 wires that works like a switch. This worked- the buzzing sound came from the ice and frost hitting the fan.
When the freezer gets cold enough, the "bi-metal" would turn off the cold and turn on a heater that removes the frost from the cooling coils. It is calibrated to go back to a closed state and turn off the heater then turn the cold back on. This may be a simplistic explanation-but it is how I understood it.
How do you transport a refrigerator?
Refrigerators should be lifted and transported upright so the coolant remains in place.
Why does black soot appear in the freezer compartment of a Kenmore refrigerator?
It sounds like mildew to me. If the freezer is in use, and the black soot is in the interior of the freezer, it's likely something else. But especially if it's in the crevices of the door lining, or if the freezer is not in use, it's likely mildew. Clean it well, wipe it off with a bleach solution, and try to keep it dry. Mildew needs warm, moist, and dark to survive and thrive.
What is a refrigerator magnet made of?
A refrigerator magnet is typically made of a material known as ferrite, which is a type of ceramic often used for its magnetic properties. The ferrite material is combined with other materials such as plastic or rubber to create the final refrigerator magnet product.

Why does aluminum foil disintegrate when used to wrap meatloaf in the fridge?
Sometimes when foods are stored in aluminum foil, or when foil is used to cover a pan of food, the foil will develop holes and look like it is being eaten away. Two things may be the cause. 1) When aluminum and a dissimilar metal are in contact in the presence of moisture, an electrolytic reaction may occur causing a breakdown of the aluminum. To prevent this reaction, use plastic wrap to cover metal containers (silver, stainless steel, or iron used to store food. 2) If the aluminum foil was not used with a dissimilar metal container, the reaction was probably a chemical one. It is possible for heavy concentrations of salt, vinegar or some other acidic compound, or highly spiced foods to cause the foil to disintegrate. The product of either of these reactions is an aluminum salt. It does not harm the food but you will want to scrape any deposit off the food as it may impart an undesired flavor and color.

How does a Refigerator or freezer work to keep things cold?
Dense gas is pumped through small holes within a metal tube, by a motorized "compressor." When this gas makes contact with the metal on the inside, it has a cooling effect and the metal absorbs the heat from the air on the outside of the tube. Once the heat has been absorbed, this air is pumped in, or cycled through the fridge and freezer to keep things cold.
