Asked in Retail Stores
How would you go about getting your product into retail stores?

I would recommend contacting the local district office, and from
there, it will trickle down to the stores. One of the best ways is
to exhibit in a temporary "Wholesale to the Trade" show. Dallas
Market Center, LA Mart (Los Angeles) Atlanta Merchandise Mart, All
these have websites. Retailers go to these to purchase for their
stores. Sometimes you have to distribute a few samples just like
sending in free promotional items and corporate gifts and when the
retail stores like it or see some possibilities for a big sale for
your product, then that's the time they come asking for more.
Although promotional items and corporate gifts are really of a
different perspective as your own business product because they are
usually given for free, it could be a good start to use this
strategy.
It is a very important move to let potential buyers know about
your product and if you cannot launch it with a small capital, then
you can always resort to sampling them to retails stores in some
consignment basis where you only get paid per sale and the retails
store owners get a cut on your sales.

How and when did Cyber Monday start?

The when: 2005. The how: How do you think? Marketing.
Ellen Davis, now the senior vice president of strategic initiatives at the National Retail Federation (NRF), coined the term in a November 2005 press release. Retailers had noticed a bump in sales on the Monday after Thanksgiving in the years prior, the release said, and they’d capitalize on that by offering great deals in 2005.
“We thought about calling it ‘Black Monday,’” she told the Los Angeles Times, “but that’s also the term for the big stock market crash, so we didn’t want to go there. We considered ‘Blue Monday’—because of the color of hyperlinks—but that had the connotation of being sad or depressed.”
The NRF settled on the “cyber” prefix and later launched cybermonday.com to serve as a clearinghouse for deals offered by its associates on Cyber Monday. The term—and concept—has blown up in the years since, fueling what’s looking to be a historically successful Cyber Monday in 2019.
Asked in Christmas, Retail Stores, Target Corporation
Is Target open on Christmas Day?

Target is closed on Christmas Day as are most stores.
Typically the store stays open 1 hour later than usual the weeks
before and after Christmas. So if it's normally open to 11pm which
most Super Targets are, then they will close at 12am, and so on and
so forth.
Holiday hours vary by location, check the website Target.com for
local store hours or click on the link below for the Target store
locator.
On a sidenote, Even though many more stores are beginning to
stay open on Thanksgiving, and work longer hrs on Christmas Eve...
nearly every store and business will be closed on Christmas, across
the country.
This includes the big names like:
Walmart, Target, Kmart, Old Navy and Toys R Us.

What is goodwill?

When a business has provided good service or product to their
customers, the customers develop a trust for the business. They
become repeat customers and they tell others what a good experience
they had. That creates a business asset called goodwill, in other
words the good will of the customers toward the business.
Answer 2
The goodwill of a business is the whole advantage of the reputation
and connection with customers together with the circumstances
whether of habit or otherwise, which tend to make that connection
permanent. It represents in connection with any business or
business product the value of the attraction to the customers which
the name and reputation possesses. Its elements can be market
penetration, brand awareness, customer loyalty, size and quality of
customer list, longevity in the marketplace, proprietary products,
intellectual property, etc.
Answer 3
Goodwill is a value of the attractive force that generates sales
revenue in a business, and adds value to its assets.
Goodwill is an intangible but salable asset, almost
indestructible except by indiscretion.
It is built painstakingly over the years generally with:
heavy and continuous expenditure in promotion,
creation and maintenance of durable customer and supplier
relationships,
high quality of goods and services, and
high quality and conduct of management and employees.
Goodwill includes the worth of corporate identity, and is
enhanced by corporate image and a proper location.
Its value is not recognized in account books but is realized
when the business is sold, and is reflected in the firm's selling
price
Asked by Maximillia Auer in Costco, Retail Stores, Grocery Shopping
Is Costco a wholesaler, a retailer, or both?

That seems like a simple question—it’s called Costco Wholesale Corporation, afterall. But that name is a little bit deceiving.
First, to define the central terms: A retailer is a store that sells to consumers, while a wholesaler sells to other stores. With those definitions in mind, Costco is technically both, as it sells to both consumers and other businesses. However, since consumers are a larger portion of its clientele, it’s probably more accurate to call Costco a retailer.
For what it’s worth, Costco describes itself as “a membership warehouse club” on its website, which is about 0 percent helpful.

This is commonly use in the software trade. Tier 1 refers to the
metros - Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Calcutta, Hyderabad, Bangalore and
the like. Cities which attract most of the talent.
Tier 2 and the next rung cities like Coiambatore, Trivandrum,
Cochin, Vizag, Mangalore, Pune the next largest so to speak and
those that are now of interest to the IT majors since the costs
there are lower and the population less mobile. Lots of stuff is
happening there now.
Tier 3 will be the smaller cities - Trichy, Madurai, Nasik,
Baroda etc. which are just waking up and seeing some action
No real definition beyond that...
