Who can provide a Reverse Mortgage?

If you're looking into the government insured reverse mortgage, it's important to use a HUD approved lender that's capable of offering the reverse mortgage program. The Department of Housing and Urban Development publishes a list of approved HUD lenders that you can search on their website. Remember to check the box that limits the search to lenders who have completed a HECM loan within the past 12 months. This will give a better list of which companies really specialize in reverse mortgages and which ones don't.

A fixed annuity is invested with the insurance co who then invests in a variety of things. All you need to worry about is that with a fixed annuity it is all guaranteed and there is zero risk. Currently you can get a guarantee of 6% interest for 10 years at a period of time when banks and the FDIC are failing and the market is down. Insurance companies are your safest bet as they know how to manage risk.

How much money do you need to not work anymore in your entire life?

it depends on the person and whether they have a big family to support or not. id say some where close to a million or maybe even more

I'd say a billion dollars in the bank. When you have a million dollars, you are going to have very little interest from the bank. Not enough to buy that sweet Corvette, or buy that 87 inch screen tv. Plus, you are going to need to pay for food, clothes, home payment, electricity, phone bills, that very expensive baseball legue, ballet class. It would be a very tight budget, so I'd aim for a billion.

What is the difference between ordinary annuity and annuity due?

In an ordinary annuity, the payments are fed into the investment at the END of the year. In an annuity due, the payments are made at the BEGINNING of the year. Therefore, with an annuity due, each annuity payment accumulates an extra year of interest. This means that the future value of an annuity due is always greater than the future value of an ordinary annuity.

When computing present value, each payment in an annuity due is discounted for one less year (because one of the payments is not made in the future- it is made at the beginning of this year and is already in terms of present dollars). This will result in a larger present value for an annuity due than for an ordinary annuity, as well.

What is the difference between ordinary annuities and annuities due?

An annuity due is an annuity where the payments are made at the beginning of each time period; for an ordinary annuity, payments are made at the end of the time period. *an annuity due of (n) periods is equal to an ordinary annuity of (n-1) periods plus the payment.

When deciding how much of their income to save for retirement should workers consider the real or the nominal interest rate that their savings will earn Explain?

In this case the Real Rate of Return (RRR) should be used. A worker saving for his retirement, will be concerned with how much goods his money will be able to buy after finishing work. That is why the inflation should be taken into acount. If using nominal rates you would see how much stuff would you be able to buy TODAY with the amount you will have when retired.
