Where can I find a doctor willing to prescribe Ritalin without hassle in Sydney?

If you feel you cannot focus on your work, school, tasks at home, etc., and you cannot control symptoms yourself, see a doctor and tell them you're concerned with your ability to focus. They may be willing, on their own, to talk about treatment options such as Ritalin or Adderall. An easier (but more expensive) way to get a prescription for Ritalin is to demonstrate to that doctor that you have ADD or ADHD. A neuropsychological report (about $2500 here in the USA) written by a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist is definitive proof of such a condition. You will need to be tested for an array of things, and the testing takes about 5 or 6 hours. Of course, if the tests indicate a different problem or are not conclusive regarding ADD or ADHD, all bets are off.

There are many options and many doctors, but remember: the only sure way to not get a drug prescribed for you is to ask a doctor for it. First build rapport with the doctor and demonstrate that you are a responsible adult, then you may be able to take part in a decision regarding "pharmacological" treatment.

The sale or transfer of any controlled substance to anyone other than for whom it was intended (prescribed) is illegal, and can result in fines and/or jail time. Also, abuse of a controlled substance is illegal as well.

How long does a 5mg Ritalin stay in your system?

the effect lasts about 4 hours and the drug does not leave any residue in your system. It releases instantly, taking about 15-30 mins for the effects to become apparent and then is excreted within about 8 hours. Its noticable effects last about 3-5 hours.

Effects of Ritalin on Kids without ADHD?

Ritalin is essentially speed, it's a drug. If you DON'T have ADHD you shouldn't take it. It can be addictive so you shouldn't give it to your children without consulting a doctor first.

My daughter has been on Ritalin for 8 days now has rash on face which gets puffy antihistamines and hydrocortisone prescribed was ineffective should she stop Ritalin?

I have been taking Ritalin myself for over ten years, so my advice may be helpful to you. I remember it took some time before my dose was 'just right' for me. The dose your daughter was given (in my opinion) was too high for her, thus the skin reaction. Let the prescribing doctor know the dosage was may have been too high and he/she will adjust the med accordingly or possibly try an alternative like Adderall or others. As for the rash, if it still persists, I would try the medication called elocon. This is the only medication that works for my daughter that has eczema. -Which, at times has related rash-like symptoms as you described. Just rub on a small amount to the area in need and it will vanish over-night. (At least that's what it does for my daughter!) I only use it on her 2-3 times a month when she is really bad. Good luck!

I'd concur. I've been taking Ritalin and Adderall, on and off, for over a decade. Try to persevere. Getting started on medication [which drug, dosage, etc.] will be the most difficult period. It's important to talk with your daughter's doctor about any problems she is having and work through them. Also it's important to remember that it can take several months for your daughter's body to acclimate to her medication. This is normal and side-effect will disappear with time.

Are Ritalin and Concerta the same drug?

Concerta and Ritalin both have exactly the same active ingredient -- Methylphenidate.

The difference is that Ritalin is just a standard tablet, whereas concerta is a special capsule which slowly releases methylphenidate over a period of time so the patient does not have to keep taking Ritalin every few hours, concerta releases for up to 12 hours.

--------------------------------

According to the drug description, it peaks from 0 to 5th hour. then it drops down to 0 by the 28th hour. In comparison to the peak, the effect will drop to about 1/4 by the 16th hour.

Theoretically, I personally believe that this may improve the sleeplessness issue from ritaline. Today is my day 1 taking Concerta. If anyone can share some of your experience, please let us know

--------------------------------

My grandson takes concerta for ODD. It absolutely does not address this issue whatsoever. He is worse in my opinion, more combative, does not have an appetite, and cannot go to sleep at a decent hour. Aside from this it causes brain damage and stunts growth with long term use and he will become addicted to amphetamines in teen and adult life. He is skin and bone at the present and looks under nourished.

All these similar diagnosis are merely labels. Drugging children is the wrong direction to take, which is an opinion now shared by many Doctors. There are also law suits going on at the present for deaths that have occurred.

Ive read on the internet and in holland the insurance don't pay the Strattera couse they say theres no prove that Strattera is different than Ritalin but that isn't true so whats the diffence?

Prozac reuptakes serotonin and is in the class of drugs called SSRIs...strattera is an NRI, a norepinephine reuptake inhibitor, so it works on a totally different class of brain chemials.

serotonin is an inhibitory neurotransmitter while norepinephrine is exitatory.

serotonin=sleepy, content, feelin good, satisfied

norepinephrine=able to concentrate, alert, awake, refreshed

Is it safe to mix Wellbutrin and Ritalin Also can Ritalin help with depression?

**WELLBUTRIN & RITALIN***RITILIN is a brand name for METHYLPHENIDATE, [other brands: CONCERTA & METADATE] which is a stimulant generally prescribed for ADHD, SLEEP DISORDERS, SOCIAL DISORDERS & MILD DEPRESSION. WELLBUTRIN is generally prescribed for DEPRESSION, and also for quitting smoking (then it's called ZYBAN), which is the same drug as WELLBUTRIN [generic name BUPROPION. ] I would consult my physician and/or pharmacist before combing the two. <<>>

Consult a doctor before you make any changes to your medication. Asking for medical advice from random unqualified people on the internet regarding possible life threatening drug combinations is much like playing Russian roulette. Seek a professional.

---edit by another user---

As a person who is prescribed both Ritalin and Wellbutrin by a psychiatrist, I can say, in general (but not as a doctor, cause I'm not one), it is ok to mix them. Often people with ADD have co-morbidities, such as depression, and Wellbutrin has been shown to mix well with other drugs because of it's unique (and not very well understood) mechanism. Wellbutrin is also often prescribed alongside Prozac. Just be careful with this mix. Wellbutrin's major side effect is lowering of the seizure threshold. A LOT of other prescription drugs also lower seizure threshold (such as Ritalin). A doctor would be able to clear you and tell you if you have a low seizure threshold and if it's safe. If you aren't going to a doctor, all I can say is that people are routinely prescribed this combo.

Which is milder Ritalin Dexedrine Adderall?

Ritalin (methylphenidate) is generally considered milder than Dexedrine (dextroamphetamine) and Adderall (a mixture of amphetamine salts), as it typically has a shorter duration of action and a lower potential for abuse. Individual responses can vary, and the choice of medication should be tailored to the patient's specific needs and medical history. Always consult a healthcare professional for personalized advice.

it makes you feel super focused and excited on the task you have in front of you. it makes you feel energized and ready to do anything. at some points you can talk your mouth off and not shut up and at other you dont feel like talking at all. i also noticed when i text or talk to people (this mainly goes for when talking to girls) i feel super confident in what im saying. your heart rate increases and you can feel tired when coming down off it but you wont be able to sleep. id recommend it for sure! start by taking 20mg which i pay about 2$ for from people at school.

If a person weighs 180 lbs. what amount Ritalin is prescribed?

This really depends on the person since 180 pounds is averagish weight for most people. Depending on what condition Ritalin is taken for and how severe the symptoms are you could be prescribed anything from 10mg instant release to 54mg concerta (both of which are the same chemical methylphenidate). Does using certo to pass a drug test work for opiates?

Yes, Certo does work. You need to get a gatorade that is yellow, like citrus or lemon lime. Dump some gatorade out a little and add the liquid Certo to your bottle. Chug it down, fill the bottle back up with h2o and drink that. Drink as much water as you can within about an hour or two before the test. Make sure you take some vitamin b or a multivitamin to make your urine yellow. Make sure you pee at least three times. It doesn't have to be a lot just enough to start getting the clear urine out. Don't wait longer than 2 hours before taking the test. I waited one hour and passed. I am about to take another one again and plan to do it again. I have heard that doing the Certo the night before and again the next day can make the results come out even better. Make SURE YOU ARE ON AN EMPTY STOMACH. I would recommend that you don't eat after about 5 the night before if your gonna do it the night before and then nothing the next day at all. It also depends on your weight. If you are very big your chances are lower and you might want to do it twice. I did it just one time on an empty stomach and I passed. I am on legal meds. I take two different pain meds and also anxiety meds and non of it showed. I did the Certo because I didn't want to have to explain that I had to take Narcotics on a daily basis in fear that I wouldn't get the job. I did however take my meds with me and disclosed I was prescribed it. It works for Marijuana too since my friend who is a heavy smoker is the one who told me about Certo. Good Luck. Make sure you take a vitamin to make your urine yellow or they may get suspicious and it also keeps your urine from being so diluted. You have to drink all the gatorade, the water in the gaterade plus 6 bottles of water. You will be good.

Can you cut cocaine with Ritalin?

Putting the obviously legal issues of dealing drugs aside, mixing two powerful drugs like these is always a bad idea; made much worse in that you're giving someone a possibly deadly mix without their knowledge and consent.

What is a average Ritalin dosage for an adult?

I take 20 mg tablets twice a day. They make 30 mg tabs also, but that was too much for me to take twice daily, though some people need that much.

Will taking Omeprazole and Ritalin at the same time lesson the effects of the Ritalin?

Ritalin is metabolized in the body by CYP2D6, a member of the Cytochrome P450 Enzyme System.

Omeprazole is a member of the PPI family of drugs (Proton Pump Inhibitors).

PPI's are known to inhibit CYP2C19 = this inhibition would allow drugs metabolized by this enzyme to linger in the body = exerting their effect for a longer period of time.

Having said that, metabolic pathways in the body are by no means black & white...it could very well be the case that certain drugs (ie. Ritalin) are metabolized by a combination of these P450 enzymes.
