How can you identify what gauge a Diamond Arms Co single barrel shotgun is by the serial no 82609?

There is no way to tell the gauge from the serial number, and that may not even be a true serial number. Diamond Arms were made by several manufacturers for distribution by the Shapleigh Hardware Company of St Louis between the 1880s and 1940s. Anyone familiar with shotguns should be able to determine the gauge by looking at the gun, but to find the proper ammunition you should also have a gunsmith measure the length of the chamber.

Who made the 12 gauge Ranger double barrel hammerless shotgun with 32 inch barrels and a patent date of April 20 1915?

AnswerI own the same model and it has matching numbers. I couldn't help to notice the marking on the butt plate from Remington. If my memory hasn't failed me it's going to say "Remington Arms Co'. I went and double checked and I was correct. Well unless I learn something else or one of us does a search and orders that patent. The answer likely will be the same.

According to my research I learned this gun could of been made by 2-3 other companies. Also may have been in the US Military as well. See the link below.
