The direction in which goods are transported also gave this inhumane trade the name the Triangular slave trade.It starts with Sugar cane being shipped off to Europe, from where beaded jewellery, cloth and other manufactured goods were shipped to Africa. These were exchanged on the Western coasts for slaves, who were roughly packed into ships for the journey to the Caribbean.

So the general causes would be for the supplement of slaves to the Caribbean , and sugar to Europe.
