There is no difference between American Rottweiler and Romanian rottweiler. If it is born in America then it is an American Rottweiler. Different countries have different breed standards, for instance most "German" rotts are shorter and stockier because of the breed standards that they have there. The "American" rotts are taller and a hare slimmer. If a Rottweiler is born in Hungary it is a Hungarian Rottweiler. This is what I have been told by a professional. The akc does not recognize American or Romanian Rottweilers, just Rottweilers.

Rotts aren't mean its the owner

As a proud owner of a purebred Rottie, I can tell you that PRICE isn't always the factor in getting a quality dog, but it usually is. More importantly, you want to buy from a breeder who makes you fill out an application before owning one of these magnificent animals. They should want to know your living situation- do you have kids, pets, cats, how big is your house, etc, etc. Sound strange? For a reputable breeder, that is absolutely paramount. If they are willing to just "sell" you one without asking you questions, run the other direction. And stay away from newspaper ads, craig-list, etc.

My breeder makes people "apply" in advance and they are placed onto a waiting list. Based on precisely what type of dog you are looking for (family/copmpanion dog, farm dog, working dog) and what sex, a puppy is then selected FOR YOU from the most recent litter; a dog that displays traits early on that will most likely fit exactly what you want.

I'd be afraid to pay less than $1000 for a good, purebred Rott from a breeder.

Depending on the Rottie and how it is kept and what it is fed, they can live about 10-12 years.

There are lots of good Rottweiler breeders in Germany. A kennel club accredited breeder is good reliable source.

well, it all depends on the mother who gave birth to him/her. It's all about the genes the mother and father had. It could be small, medium, or even large. So if its small it would atleast weigh about 23 pounds, if its medium it should be around 33 pounds, and if it's large it should be about 50 pounds. Rottweilers are not inherently mean. It all depends on how they are raised and how they are treated. Any dog can be mean if it is treated poorly just as any dog can be friendly if it is treated well.

no pure breed rottweiler's don't have white markings but it's is know for not only rottweiler's who aren't purebred to have white markings but rottweiler's who are both pure bred and predigree..which in most cacses the breeder will drown any pups withwhite markings...MMarley :)

It it up to the owner of the Rottweiler to have her dog muzzled! You can place a complaint with the ASPCA and explain the circumstances you have just explained in your question. Muzzles are often used on dogs that want to attack other dogs or can bite. It would be to your best advantage (if possible) to take another route rather than the same one where you may bump into this Rottweiler. The next time might not be so lucky for your dog. Also picking up your dog will not save your dog. Rottweilers (also other larger breeds of dogs that are inclined to be aggresive) will just jump on you to get to your dog. Since a Rottweilers jaw pressure is so strong your dog wouldn't stand a chance and you may end up more worse for wear. I live in British Columbia, Canada and Pepper Spray is legal. I use it when taking my dogs for a walk (to protect myself) and my dogs. Some trainers will use a cookie sheet that makes a bang when they hit it or slap it against their thigh and it also helps to keep the dog attacking away from your dog. Another good idea is an umbrella. When you see a dog attack pop that umbrella open and it startles the attacking dog long enough for you and your pet to get out of there. I'd call the SPCA and make the owner muzzle this dog! I'd also take another route and not risk my dog's lives. I own a Bichon Frise and a Cockapoo.

As the rottweiler is quite a physical dog, with great strength, it is even more important that you know what you are getting yourself in to. It is key to start training of your dog as early as possible. Rottweilers need to be properly socialized so they get used to being around people. This will help greatly in later years if your dog has learned this early on.

If properly socialized and well trained the rottweiler will provide you loving friendship and good loads of exercise. They are very intelligent animals and therefore need stimuli. When training your rottweiler you need to be strong and firm as this breed can be strong willed at times. So let them know who is in charge, this will make both you and your dog feel more safe and calm. Even though a properly handled rottweiler is usually calm that can also be very playful, thriving on the attention from their owner and need people around to be happy.

This breed does not usually bark much. Rottweilers are known as quite dogs, though females can sometimes get loud when they feel they need to protect their home. The fact that they are rather quiet and in the event of feeling threatened tend to very still before attacking with no warning growl, has added to the reputation that rottweilers are unreliable. Though an observant owner should be able to easily spot when his or her dog feels threatened in some way.

Again it needs to be pointed out that the rottweiler needs to learn from its master who is in charge. This may at times take being very firm when training them. Once they learn you are in charge if you do your job well, they will obidiently do everything they can to please their owner.

If you have other animals around it is normally not a problem with a rottweiler as long as it grows up together with these animals around. Then they will only see these other creatures as part of the home

Yes, just be sure to introduce the dogs slowly. There should always be someone with the dogs when they are together for the first month to prevent fights. As long as the dogs get along there should not be a problem. I have a female lab and a female rott at home and they are best friends!
