Rugby league is the professional code of rugby football, and Rugby is a town in Warwickshire. with a famous public school where the game developed.

The main differences between rugby league football and rugby union football is that the principal rugby league teams are professional athletes instead of amateurs (albeit rugby union has some semi-professionals). The focus is more on running with the ball and scoring tries, instead of set pieces and kicking.

There is almost no kicking in rugby league. You only have 5 tackles of passing and then you must kick over to other time. In rugby union you can kick to the corners downfield and you can have as many phases as you like when controlling the ball. There is a lot more kicking in the union game. League is really just passing.

He led the Chicago Bulls to 6 championships (two three-peats with his two-year retirement in the middle), as well as the best regular season record in NBA history in 1996 (72-10). You could also go with Bill Russell, Center and Captain of 11 Boston Celtics championship teams. Shaquille O'Neal has won four titles as the best player/leader on his team. They play both. Its dependant on the location and the type of club in their locality but both codes run excellent mini and youth programme

Alright, let me improve on this answer by first saying, the guy above is a bloody idiot. NRL has lasted 100 years, it ain't gonna end in another 10 unless something happen along the line of a nuclear war or the sun exploding...

The reason why NRL is far more popular is:

#In 2006, the highest sale of ANY sporting Jersey was of the Canterbury Bulldogs, an NRL, They topped nay other football team, even the State Of Origin Blue or the Rugby Union Wallabies!

#NRL has much higher TV ratings. The NRL Grandfinals Oblideterates the AFL Grandfinal Nationally, Australians most viewed event of the year (not just sports, I mean anything) is the State Of Origin.

#The Two Most Populated States in Australia are NSW and QLD, both of which Are VERY dominated by NRL. VIC is Dominated by AFL and so is WA, SA and TAS, but all of the last three combined doesn't even have half of the population QLD does. Vic is also the least populated out of NSW, QLD and itself...

The only thing AFL has over NRL is it's Game attendance. An average AFL agme gets about 25-30 thousands, wher as NRL gets 25-30 thousand, but theres a big reason:

A) NRL's most support comes from the western suburbs of Sydney, the poorest general area in Australia,

B) AFL has much better membership packages. eg. an avg NRL membership would cost $200 for all home game whereas AFL cost $300 for home and away games, in other words twice as many games. So if you half the 300 bux because you get twice as many games, you now only have $150, that's a lot more money to some poorest people in Australia (according to the 2006 cenus standard of living)

NRL number are FAR behind with a total attendance of 3,338,231 at an average of 17,756. Brisbane Broncos average 35,032 people per match.

There were 29 regular season games in the AFL with higher attendance than the highest NRL attended match.

The 2010 AFL Grand Final was watched by a 5 city average of 2.76 million viewers. The replay average 2.09 million viewers.
