When did Rush Limbaugh start in radio?
On August 1, 1988, after achieving success in Sacramento Limbaugh moved to New York City and began his national radio show. He benefitted from the repeal of the "Fairness Doctrine" by the FCC that required TV and radio stations to air oposing positions every time someone expressed a political opinion on one of their programs. Limbaugh's radio home in New York City was the talk-format station WABC 770 AM, and this remains his flagship station.
Rush was discovered by a Cleveland disc jockey named Halper. Once this disc jockey began following and promoting Rush, his career took off and he soon had more listeners than any other talk show host.

Rush Limbaugh escaped being drafted into the Vietnam War because he claimed to have a pilonidal cyst. He did not have an induction physical and was not examined by an Army Physician. He brought a paper from his personal doctor and based on that he got a classification that prevented him from being drafted.
He has denied the cyst was the reason since, but he admitted it earlier.

Very high but definitely not genius, I'd say around 125 or so, putting him well above average. It takes a high IQ to be able to massage and manipulate actual truth and fact into a crude new version that is sellable to those with low IQs. It takes a genius IQ or close to it, to get past this juvenile practice which is based entirely on a broken ego, in order to have the imagination to see into the future for the greater good. He definitely doesn't have a high enough IQ to qualify for that.

The comment Rush made about death panels was not for depopulation. The Administration will set up panels that will review what can be covered and what will not be covered under the new health care plans. This will require limiting care to certain groups of people. A rating referred to as "quality of life" will be assigned for each age group and condition. Once you go into a group that will have too low of a quality of life, verses the projected cost of the procedure in question, it will not be covered. For example, a 90 year old man with terminal cancer would probably not be eligible to receive a new heart. Hospitals and private insurance have similar groups and policies in place today. The shift that bothers Rush Limbaugh is that up till now, you had the ability to go elsewhere for a second opinion and it was not the Government deciding that you could try living or not. Most conservatives, like Rush, feel it is not up to our Government to decide issues like this. They prefer far less involvment in the private lives of citizens.
