The one thing God can not do, without removing free will, is prevent the Christians themselves from committing evil.

There are several reasons that people worship Satan instead of God. While I do not know them all, because the reasons mainly depend on the person or group of people, I do know at least two reasons. The first reason is that some people love the taboo that is involved with it. Just like anything else that is taboo, there is a certain edge to the feeling of going against the grain. Another reason is that people, unfortunately can be ignorant and mislead about many things concerning God and therefore, out of some anger or dislike for God choose to worship satan.

The ones I have met felt constricted by the rules and commandments of Christianity (at least as they experienced it). A lot of Satanism is really the rituals of Christianity turned upside down, with the philosophy that the individual is in charge and doesn't need rules to tell them how to behave. Some have said that, since it was this supposedly loving God who invented Hell (a place of infinite and eternal torment for those who have a mind of their own), they want to be on the side of the opposition.

Anton Szandor LaVey is the founder of the Church of Satan. This is the version of Satanisim that doesn't involve slaughtering unbaptized babies and defiling nuns. That variety of Satanisim was invented by the church in the middle ages to fear monger and was actually practiced by some stupid and bored rich people for the thrill of it. This got them executed. Any other forms of Satanisim are usually tamer versions of the variety created by the church.
