Where is the oil filter on a Saturn aura?

the oil filter is located on the back of the engine block, passanger side, just above the drive axle. you can get it through the passanger wheel well by taking the tire off, and the plastic shroud inside. or you can reach it from under the vehicle. the oil filter number is a Fram PH3614

How do you change timing chain in 2001 Saturn engine?

1. Are you absolutely certain that the timing chain NEEDS to be replaced? Generally, a timing chain is only replaced when rebuilding the engine. Saturn timing chains generally last until the engine has worn to the point that other internal work should be performed.

2. If you are CERTAIN that you need a timing chain, the easiest way would be

  • remove the engine from the vehicle, but you CAN simply pull the passenger side fender cover and try to work in that tight space.
  • Pull the dampener pulley (that's the big pulley that drives the serpentine belt.
  • remove the front engine cover. In the Saturn it is also the oil pump.
  • remove the timing chain tensioner assembly and make certain that you do not misplace any of the internal pieces... the spring will fly across the room if you aren't careful.
  • Remove the timing chain guides from both sides of the engine and the third one from the head (twin cam only).
  • turn the engine to #1TDC. note the timing holes on the camshaft(s). They should line up with a matching hole on the head when the engine is at #1TDC.
  • Disconnect the cam sprocket(s) and remove them, taking care to not turn the crankshaft or camshaft(s).
  • Put the new timing chain and sprocket(s) in place, making certain that the camshaft sprocket(s) line up with the alignment hole(s). This step assumes that you have not turned the crankshaft away from #1TDC. Tighten the sprockets.
  • Install the new timing chain slides in the original position.
  • Use the retainer to hold the chain tensioner while you install it. Sometimes a helper can be beneficial in this procedure.
  • Install a NEW dampener pulley oil seal.
  • Replace the engine cover/oil pump assembly, making certain that all surfaces are clean and that new gaskets have been used.
  • Install the dampener pulley, making certain that the key is properly installed.
  • If necessary, re-install the engine.

What causes a Saturn to overheat?

Check the cooling system, and I mean everything. Thermostat, temperature sesnor(s), radiator clogs, radiator cap, badly damaged water pump, belts, you could simply need to add more antifreeze. If it isn't your coolant system, then it's your driving habbits or driving conditions, in which case you may want to slow down, get a car that can handle harsh driving, or upgrade your radiator.

Also check that your electric fan is coming on.

Where can you get additional keys for your Saturn vue 2002?

You should go to a Saturn dealership. They will cut the keys on site and program the chip with your VIN #. Replacement keys cut at a hardware store, Walmart, etc. won't work due to the chip located in the original key. I just got 2 made and they (the dealership) charged $7.50 per key. Go any place that cuts keys, hardware store, walmart, auto parts store. They will use the keys you have to cut new one .

Why would a Saturn have no power if it was running fine when you turned it off?

I had this problem with my 1998 SL2. After I shut it off, it would not start up again unless I jump started it. My clock would reset also. When it happened at a convenience store, a guy offered to jump it for me, then he looked and saw that the battery cables were loose. He tightened them and it hasn't happened again. I don't know if this helps or not. ?AnswerSame thing happened to me with my 1998 SC2. Hasnt happened since i tightened the cables. ?Answerthis happened to me about 5 months ago. I have a 95 Saturn sl2. The terminal cable, on back of battery, was not completely connected and needed an entirely new battery. ?Answercould be many things, a bad alternator, a bad battery, or even bad wiring, so if the the battery terminal is fine, have your battery checked, then the alternator and hope that it isn't bad wiring ?AnswerI had the Same Problem last week with my 94 SC1 Coupe. Check the battery with an ohmeter, then check that your wires are connected good. But it is probably your alternator. Dont bring it to a shop because they will charge you a rediculous amount to fix. Just jack the car up and put it on stands, take the right plastic shield off near the right front wheel so u can see your alternator, find the tensioner bolt and take the serpentine belt off, disconnect your battery, use a 14 mm wrench and take off the two bolts holding your alternator on, remove the sensor which clips on, and another wire which is held on by a bolt, i bought a rebuild kit from CND tire and rebuilt it myself for 50 bucks..... but if not u can buy a new one for around 150$ give or take.... then just slap it back in, bolt her on, hook the wires up, put the belt back on ... (WHICH IS ALOT HARDER THAN TAKING IT OFF) Then hook your battery back up and shes good to go....
FYI: Next thing to go on your car will be your fuel pump... all Saturns folow the same road.... alternator first then fuel pump... :-(... good luck..!!

How do you remove the rear seat Saturn L200?

th the back seats up and locked do the following;

1z0 reach your fingers back behind the cushion where the back of the seat meets the bottom on one side or the other, it doesnt matter. pull it up till it feels like its bending. it will stay in place.

2) repeat the same procedure on the other side then stop do the other side. only till it bends. stop. the middle section between the 2 seat belts is still flat and appears to be in place.

3)now pull up the middle section grasping the outer most parts of the center cushion firmly. you will hear the rear mounts pop loose and the seat will rise immediately. dont pull it up more than a few inches. let it rest slightly elevated. stop

4)now move the front seats as far forward as possible, youll need all the room. kneeling in front of each corner, slide your fingers in under the seat as far as you can and still get a grip, and pull upward, fast and HARD. it will pop up quick, just like the rear outside ends did. do the same anon the other end and gusto its ready to pull out. pull forward and lift up at the same time. it is now out. it looks and seems like you are bending thee seat and doing damage. but there is no frame in the lower cushion at all. it weighs about fifteen pounds and straightens right out when you lay it down on the floor.

5) reverse to install. you will feel it pop back in as you push down at each point you pull at earlier. total time 1rst attempt 8 minutes. second ttime 45 seconds (out and back

look at the mounting point before you reinstall and you will see clearly how it works.

good luck and pull hard!

How do you turn off sevice engine light 1996 saturn?

It does absolutely NO good to turn off the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) as long as there is a malfunction somewhere in the control system.

To turn off the MIL, put a jumper wire across pins 1 and 2 of the diagnostic port, then turn on the key (don't start the engine).

With the jumper in place, the computer should start flashing the code MIL to indicate the problem.

First the computer will flash once (1), then twice (2), indicating code 12. Code 12 means that the computer will display any stored codes.

The computer will flash 12 three times, then it will go on to display any other stored codes (again, flashing the code three times), pausing between each different code.

After the computer has displayed all stored codes, it will start over and flash 12.

Write down the stored code numbers and either look them up or take them to an auto parts retailer (such as OReilly, or Auto Zone) and if they have a knowledgeable parts clerk, you should be able to figure out what's causing the MIL to be on. Once the faulty part has been replaced, the light should go out.

Other than that, the computer will continue to turn on the MIL as long as there is an engine malfunction.
