How many 24 x 24 pillows can be made with 1 yard of fabric?
Well, since cushions have 3 dimensions (width, length, & height) I'll suppose the third dimension (height) to give you an idea of how to calculate the fabric needed. Keep in mind that we're covering six sides: front, back, top, bottom, left, & right. For example, let's assume your cushions are 24" wide by 24" long by 6" high. To determine the width of the fabric needed per cushion we need to add the width plus half of the right and half of the left or 24" + 3" + 3" = 30" and to that we'll add 2" seam allowance for the right seam and the left seam or 30" + 2" + 2" = 34" total width. To determine the length of the fabric needed per cushion we need to add the length x 2 for the front & the back and the height for the top & the bottom or 24" + 24" + 6" + 6" = 60" and to that we'll add 2" seam allowance or 60" + 2" = 62". This will cover your cushion like a pillow case that is sewed (or zippered) shut, so, you'll have no seam in front but seams on the top, left, and right sides. So, the piece of fabric you'll need for each 24" x 24" x 6" cushion as assumed above is 34" x 62". If the height of your cushions is different than the 6" I assumed, you need to adjust the calculations for top, bottom, left, & right. Also, the total yardage required will depend on the width of the fabric that you choose.
How do you apply an iron-on patch to a denim jacket?
First, make sure that the jacket is clean and dry.
Heat up your iron--better to not use steam--to a cotton setting (the patch label may say otherwise, so follow that).
Place the area of the jacket you want to patch so that it is flat on the ironing board. Make sure it will stay in position so you can leave it to cool after you put the patch on. Heat up the area by placing the iron on it for a few moments--make sure the area has no wrinkles.
Place the patch on the warm area of the jacket, hold the iron still to melt the glue, and then gently press along all of the edges. If this is a repair patch rather than being a decorative patch, then cut the patch into a circular shape before ironing it on. This will help prevent peeling.
Leave the patch in place to cool for a few hours.
omg this is like so easy make a quilt then just put them together first you turn the clothing in side out, then you put the patch on. you need to get thread that matches the clothing so it blends in. just use a sewing machine.

What is the purpose of bondaweb applique?
Bondaweb is a very useful material for making applique. On one side it is made of paper and the other is like a web of glue. It will not become sticky until it is heated by an iron or a press. You can draw on the paper side whatever shape you want your applique to be ( it must be a mirror image). Then using an iron or press you can glue the bondaweb to the back of your chosen piece of fabric. Now cut around the applique shape you drew. Then peel off the paper and place the shape glue side down onto another piece of fabric. Then iron the two fabrics down so that they bond together. There is no need for pins. You now can either leave it as it is or you can sew around it. The bondaweb also helps the applique shape to fray less.
How many yards of fabric do I need for 9 panels 72 inches wide by 64 inches high?
You need to provide more information about the fabric, specifically the width of the goods and the direction of the pattern. That's the short and unsatisfying answer. The long answer: IF the pattern on your fabric is able to be run horizontally, and IF the fabric width is at least 69" (most upholstery fabric is 54" wide, and apparel fabric is only 48" wide), your panels will be fairly simple to figure. You can use a full width, turned sideways, and simply count the number of finished panels (9) times the finished panel width (72 inches=6 feet=2 yards). This simple arrangement would therefore require 18 yards of fabric. Also, professional designers always order at least 15% "overage", especially on custom or hard-to-find fabrics, to allow for matching patterns and to insure against coming up short. Fabric colors vary depending on the days they are manufactured, and even the slightest difference in dyes will show up glaringly if you have to go back for more fabric. Unfortunately, I doubt your chosen fabric is made that wide. You will have to make a diagram, showing the direction of the pattern and the number of pieces you'll have to stitch together to make the panel size (don't forget your seam allowances and hem/pocket depths). Fabric can be expensive, and it is not very forgiving of cutting mistakes. Another thought: the vendor of the fabric should provide a measuring and estimating service. This may or may not be completely reliable (they are trying to sell as much fabric as they can), but it can confirm your own estimations. A few tips: never place a seam down the center of a panel; instead, split one piece and sew to both sides of a full width centered on the panel. If your panels are to be used as window dressings, the daylight will almost always show every seam you sew. Never use silk in window dressings without protecting it from sunlight, which will deteriorate all your hard work. Use blackout lining or a UV-protecting coating. Silk will also deteriorate in saltwater atmospheres. Don't forget to check out your local library for some of the wonderful how-to books on crafting beautiful window fashions. Good luck!

What are the tools and materials needed in embroidery?
You'll need cloth, embroidery thread (e.g. stranded cotton), and needles with large eyes, as well as the usual things like scissors and perhaps a thimble. You will probably want some way of marking a design on to your cloth to aid in placing your stitches, and iron on transfers are the easiest way to do this for a beginner. For ease of working an embroidery hoop and binding are great. I also recommend a strong light.

Domestic sewing machines were manufactured in the upper north east of the US. Starting in the mid 1800's
They were well know for their hand tooled and crafted machines and cabinetry all done at their factory. Wood was logged and floated down the river directly to their factory.
The best way to determine the age of your machine is to look for machines of similar style. The sewing machine manufacturers almost all copied each other in appearance with the desire to capture the market. Machines were constantly given cosmetic face lifts to lure people into the notion they needed to update.
If your machine is a treadle look at the body style and look up info on that. The more curvy the body the older it tends to be. A bobbin loaded machine will be post 1900's. One that is electrified is definitely post 1900's usually post 1920's. The exception to that is a modified treadle or hand crank.
Domestic like many makers also made their machines under other names such as Sears or other department stores to capture that market as well.
If the finish looks like it is a rough granite it most likely is a magnesium body which will be lighter then it looks as far as weight. This was popular in the 1950's
Wish the best in your research
