The initial incident in "The Devil and Tom Walker" occurs when Tom meets the mysterious black man in the woods, who reveals himself as the devil and offers Tom great wealth in exchange for his soul. Tom declines the offer at first but eventually agrees after failing to secure wealth through other means.

Tom Walker is a greedy and unscrupulous man who works as a usurer, lending money at exorbitant rates of interest.

"The Scent of Apples" by Bienvenido Santos is a short story that highlights themes of homesickness, identity, and cultural displacement experienced by Filipino immigrants in America. The story delves into the protagonist's nostalgia for the simple joys and memories associated with his homeland, invoking the scent of apples as a powerful symbol of longing and belonging. Tom Walker meets the Devil at the old fort in the swamp. The Devil appears to him as a dark figure, with features that become more distinct as they speak.

Sebio redeemed himself in "Dahong Palay" by sacrificing his own life in order to save his friend and repay his debt to society. He demonstrated true courage and selflessness by choosing to face the consequences of his past actions and make amends through his ultimate act of redemption.

Monster stories can take place in various locations and time periods, depending on the specific story being told. They could take place in a spooky forest, haunted house, or secluded village, and be set in the past, present, or future. The setting is often chosen to enhance the atmosphere and create a sense of fear or suspense for the reader or viewer.

Madame Loisel is portrayed as dissatisfied and unhappy with her social status. She yearns for a more affluent lifestyle and resents her lower-class existence, feeling that she is meant for more luxury and sophistication. She is materialistic and constantly dreams of a life filled with wealth and glamour.

the short story "All about suicide" was not a fact it was all fiction because in real life no one goes to someones office and kill them especially when they want the best for the other person.

In the story, "The Anatomy Lesson" by Scott R. Sanders, a student goes into the school library looking for a box of bones (for an anatomy test)... but all of them are being used. A gloved librarian enters a storage room and comes out with an old box. She hands it to the student, asking him several times if he really truly wants to use the bones inside. He thinks nothing of it and begins to assemble the bones given to him. As he assembles them, he realizes that they aren't human... they have larger feet and wings and other abnormalities. When he finishes, he approaches the librarian and asks her why she gave him the bones and thinks of it as a hoax. She tells him that it isn't and acts surprised. The student soon realizes that the librarian has a third eye and the same hands as the creature whose bones he assembled. She explains that whoever assembles the bones will transform into the creature, and that she will (and has been) as well. The story ends with the student realizing that his hands are transforming...

It is about a 15 year old boy named Donny Coble. His parents begin to get concerned when his grades begin to slip and he develops behavioral problems. They take him to a psychologist, who recommends he see a tutor named Cal. Cal, however, proves to be no help, because Donny's grades slip even more. Eventually, Donny gets expelled from school when he is found with beer and cigarettes. Cal again proves to be no help. Donny's parents end their tutoring sessions with Cal and enroll Donny in public school. However, even though he does well, he ends up disappearing and not returning home. Months pass, and Donny is still gone.

I read this story in English III today. Pretty interesting :)

The main characters in "Children of the Ash-Covered Loam" are Rintaro, Saya, and Miyako. Rintaro is a young man who encounters mysterious spirits in his hometown. Saya is a spirit who helps guide Rintaro through his journey. Miyako is a priestess who provides guidance and support to Rintaro as he learns about the world of spirits.

Point of view in a short story is the perspective from which the story is told. It defines who is narrating the events and has a significant impact on the reader's understanding of the story. Point of view can be first person (using "I"), second person (using "you"), or third person (he, she, they).

Fortunato's arrogance, condescending attitude, and insults towards the narrator's wine expertise support the narrator's belief that Fortunato is unworthy of respect or sympathy. Additionally, Fortunato's betrayal and mockery of the narrator's family motto further solidify the narrator's hatred towards him.

The setting is the place (and time) in which a work of fiction is set. For Two Hot Dogs with Everything, that would primarily be Willie's hot dog cart and the Sluggers' baseball stadium.

Margie asked Tommy why someone would write about school because in her time, school was taught by human teachers, unlike in the story she was reading where school was taught by mechanical teachers. This concept was foreign to Margie as she couldn't comprehend the idea of not having a human teacher.

Inside an hourglass, there are two chambers separated by a narrow passage where sand flows from top to bottom. The sand grains move steadily through the passage, creating a visual representation of time passing. The space is confined and continuous, with the flow of sand symbolizing the passage of time and the inevitability of change.

"The Garden Party" is started with second person point of view, but continued with third-person omniscient, in which the thoughts of every characters are clearly written. "The Inspiration of Mr. Budd" is actually third-person limited, in which the reader enters only one character's mind, Mr. Budd. So I would say that none of these stories are first person point of view!

Holmes treats Watson like he would treat any other person. Although Watson isn't the brightest bulb in the bunch, Holmes treats him very well. For instance, in the beginning of the book Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles Watson proposes evidence/clues about a "walking stick" that they found in Holmes den. Watson's clues are way off. Holmes (who already knew who's walking stick it was, and who also knew that every one of the clues that Watson proposed was indeed incorrect) did not say a word to him. So that tells you that Holmes is very good to Watson.
