Savage only has records going back to the last time they were sold- in 1995. The fact that it has a serial number would place it between 1968 and 1995. (SNs not required by law on shotguns until 1968) Sorry.

it deppens if you are shooting for geese and duck you should us a shot gun because they have wide spread pellets but if you are shooting for rabbits and don't want to have eny pellets in your meat use a 22 caliber to get a clean shot or if were looking for acurice I would use a 22 because you would get a more acurite shot then a 9 milemeter or 20 gauge

Have the 12 gauge, single shot palmetto arms co., electro steel choke bored, patented august 12 1913. It also has 2 other markings on it, 657 EE on barrell and in the chamber. Then on the small forward snap off stock is also is stamped in the wood 7 B 1, I read that is an indicator as to where and when it was made. What can you tell me about this weapon? Your western field shotgun should take standard size 2 3/4in.shells in 16 gauge.However be aware that 16 gauge shotguns were chambered in 2 9/16in chambers until the 1920,s.If you have any doubt I would have a pro.gunsmith check the chamber to be sure of it,s length.
