To whom it may concern, i bought a 20 gauge Ithaca Model 300 with a vented rib barrel when i was a senior in high school. i am 48 now. i have checked a few places looking for a slug barrel for this model shotgun. Most of the time i was told, i don't have one but i will sell you a extra smooth bore barrel and you can have it cut down, but i was looking for a rifled barrel. more than once I was told that Ithaca never made a slug barrel for that model gun, and since high school i have only seen one other person that had this same shotgun. i finally gave up on looking. hope you have better luck than i did.

Lower the lever and remove the lever retaining screw, pull the lever straight down out of the firearm. Slide the bolt out of the reciever, being careful not to loose the extractor. Your gun is a Minier model Ithaca from 1907. "Manier" was a misprint on a serial number chronology Ithaca Gun Co. put out back in the 1960s. These were nice "utility grade" guns, made only for a couple of years, and are not in the same demand as the high grade Ithaca doubles. Depending on condition, these usually sell for $300-$400. PLEASE have this checked by a competent gunsmith before shooting ANYTHING in it. Guns from that time period sometimes had shorter chambers, and it IS 111 years old.

The American Gun Company was the "house brand" of H&D Folsom Sporting Goods, New York City, c. 1895-1930. The guns were manufactured by Crescent Arms, Norwich, Connecticut. Their single barrel shotguns sold for less than $10 when new. Their double barrel shotguns sold for $10-$15 when new. Old trade-name shotguns are not generally collected and not safe with modern ammunition, so are valued solely as a mantle ornament. The value of these guns if they are broken, badly worn, or rusty is less than $50. In like-new condition, it might be over $200. In "average" condition, it would probably be about $125.

There were two makers of Mass. Arms Co. shotguns, Stevens Arms & Tool Company and Crescent Fire Arms Company. If the gun was made by Crescent it was made before 1915 and if by Stevens it was made after 1920. A quick way to identify the maker is to look at the butt stock where it joins the frame. A Crescent made gun will have a smooth joint. A Stevens made gun will have a small semicircluar projection in the wood. The guns were made for and sold by Blish & Stillingham Hardware Company of Atchenson,KS.
