Okay, let's start with the deck. Depending on how big your foot is or how much room you need, choose how wide you want it. I wear size 10's and my skateboard is a 7.75 in width. The brand of the deck is up to you. Just research different brands of decks and see what people say about them. Now on to trucks, trucks don't really matter that much. I would recommend Independent, Thunder, or Destructo. With wheels and bearings, it depends on how fast you like to go. I love going fast so I go with Bones Red bearings and 54mm wheel. If you don't like going fast then get whatever bearings and about 51 or 52mm wheels. Then pick out your griptape and hardware and then your done. Risers are optional but I always get them.

Practice, practice, practice. what i did to learn to skate switch is learn everything nollie and than try switch that way its more fun and you learn more tricks.So its called goofy. unless you ride regular. then its switch. but you can do switch kickflips and all sorts of tricks.
