Can a snowmobile drive on water?
Snowmobiles don't drive on water so to speak. However they can and do hydroplane on water, and is sometimes done on an oval track cut in the ice. Once they hit the water, if they do not go right down, they must keep the track spinning to propel them across the water. If they loose momentum for any reason, they are going down like a stone. I hope this sheds some light on your questions.

What size utility trailer should I buy to carry my snowmobile to various trails around the country?
I would get a twelve foot encolsed trailer because it will be big enough to store any extra parts that you would want and gas cans. I say enclosed also because when you are driving down the road all the stuff on the road will get thrown at the snow mobile and can damage the paint or it will be ice flying at it and it can damage it also.
Can you drive a snowmobile with a rip in the track?
It depends. where in the track is the tear? It also matters how big it is. If it's a small little hole you should be okay but if its more of a slit then I would advise replacing it before going out. The issue is if it tears all the way while you are out. The track will break off and you'll be left with no way home. I'd say better safe than sorry. If its from a nail or something like that though i'd suggest getting a few more miles out of it before you have to buy a new track but don't do anything risky.

What are snowmobiles used for?
they are used for recreation and for search and rescue also racing
A snowmobile is for people who can not get around town with a car, like in Alaska. A snowmobile is also used to go up to your local mountains, of course when there is snow on the ground, and ride for a lot of people, like me, many people do it to relive stress like some people go out and shoot guns, and most people go off of the trail causing the snow machine to be of a higher profile as some would say. Some makers like Yamaha make low profiles or low seater for the beginners. Most people ride high profiles because when your in deep powder, which is great, its lighter so you can through it around, but low profiles are not so light which makes it great for beginners staying on the trails. The skis controll the machine from swerving although your track dose pretty good work on its own its not the money maker its all in the skis. The track is run by a motor close to a car's motor but don't get the two mixed up. Snowmobiles are run by 120s for the kids 480s for beginners 600s for racers or for your trail riding and 800s for more experienced drivers. More "ccs" as some people call it, are getting into the 900s, 1000s, and the big monster one the 1500, all these move your track. The biggest factor is your track studs you could have a 480cc go against a 800cc with the 480cc having a 9" track and the 800cc with barely any and it would be pretty close race. Please get into the sport maybe you could to be a racer and be famous! SAFE RIDING!!!! :) see you out there
How do you chage the slides on Arctic Cat Snowmobile?
Simple,You use a stand or as I use an engine hoist to hold up the rear of the sled.Make sure it's up high enough to remove the screws at the bottom front of the rails.Get a pair of vise-grips,flat head screw driver,a chisel will work too. After you remove the screws, use the screw driver and hammer.Put the screw driver in the screw hole at an angle and tap gently on the screw driver towards the back of the sled.Be very careful not to scratch or ding up the rails as this will make it hard for the new slides to go on.Eventually the slides will slide out one of the holes on the track in the back.Use the vise-grips to grab it and pull. You can also lube them up before hand with PB Blaster or WD-40.Makes it ALOT easier. Also you'll want to lube up the new ones that are going on.Makes this ALOT easier too.Put the new slides on the same way you removed the old ones.Use a rubber mallet to tap them back on,or a hammer and block of wood.
