What is the age and value of a 22 S-L-LR Savage Arms Corp Stevens Model 87A serial 2094577?
I have a rifle, passed down from Dad, that has the same exact numbers. I figure because it is before the serial #, it must be all part of the patents. However, mine is stamped with the Springfield Savage Arms Corp. info on the barrel. I would love to know the date of the gun. All i know is, he gave it to me back in the late '80s and it shoots like a dream,, dead on. The only downfall of this .22 is that it weighs more than a Mack truck!
Value depend greatly on the percentage of finish remaining and overall condition. It is almost impossible to determine without a picture. Rough old banged up for 75.00 to as new in the original box for 700.00.
I purchased a Stevens - Springfield Model 15 at a Estate auction about a year ago, for $40.00. Since that time a ran across another one, at a household auction that sold for $65.00. (Who knowes what it would have went for if I would have jumped in and started biding. I passed on the second one.) I live in central Iowa area. I have been looking for one of these for 40 years. Wouldn't you know I found two of them in the same year. I found one listed on the net for $189.99. The gun was first manfactured in 1938 and sold for $3.19 new.
How do you disassemble a 375 Marlin rifle?
Open the lever halfway. Remove the lever screw, and drop the lever out. Grasp the rear of the bolt, and pull it out the back. Be sure to have the gun on it's left side, so the ejector wont fall out. Then reach inside the ejection port, and lift the ejector out of it's notch. This is as far as you need to take it down for normal cleaning. Spray the internals out, and scrub the bore.

How can you find out what model a Western Field 20 gauge bolt action with a 3 round clip is?
I have a Western Field 20 Gauge with a 3 round clip it is a Model 15K. I am currently re-doing this gun and am missing a few parts. Does anyone have a picture schematic of this model? The gun was built by Mossberg for Montgomery Wards. The Model 15 roughly corresponds to the Mossberg Model 80 or 85, but the K suffix on Mossberg normally indicates C-LECT-CHOKE which was not offered until much later in the 185 series. We have a considerable amount of parts for the older Mossberg bolt-action shotguns, so let us know if we can help. www.countrygunsmith.net

I have seen Springfield Model 15s sell on the internet for between $60 and $85 dollars. These rifles originally sold for $3.19 in 1938 and into the $14 range by the late 50's. YMMV. Didn't Stevens stop production of this rifle in the early 40's?
Stevens used the Springfield trade name from 1920 until 1948. Utility doubles bring from $150 to $250, depending on condition.
There is one for sale here: http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976676401.htm for $135.
I have one which I paid $49 for about 5 years ago in very rough condition. I have since restored it to like new. I did it for the fun of it, not that it would ever be worth more than $100 or so. My best guess is an original in good condition is worth between $100 and $125.
