The Columbian stamps were a specific issue, but they have been reissued more recently. You will need to consult the catalogs and do some research to determine exactly which edition you have.

Most libraries will have a copy of Scott's Postage Stamp Catalog of the World. First of all, you have to identify the specific stamp or card. That in itself can be a daunting task, but most of the catalogs are well illustrated with lots of information. Once you know what item you have, the catalog will provide a set of prices that can be used to estimate value.

They never expire, hence the name 'forever stamps.'

To a Stamp Collector - nothing. A replica is just a copy; it's not the real thing, so it's basically worthless. As with anything, a product is worth just as much as someone is willing to pay for it. The problem is stamp collectors are more informed than the average person.

The only value these Gold Replicas have is that they are novelties. Companies sell them to people giving them the idea that they are worth money and that in the future they'll be worth lots more. The reality is that they have little to no value.

As for the value of the gold on them, the gold on those replicas is about one or two microns in thickness, that's just enough to cover the paper. So the value of gold on one stamp is a fraction of a fraction of a penny. Let's see - you could probably take over one hundred dollars worth of these "gold" replica stamps and not even get one penny's worth of gold off of them.

Almost nothing. These replicas have a layer of gold on the foil that is an atom or two thick. It is not really measurable and it would take thousands of them to make an amount worth anything. You might be able to get a $1 or two.

In the US, unmarked stamps were often issued when postal rates were going to go up. The post office was not certain what rate would be authorized, so would print un-marked stamps to meet the expected demand. They are valid for US destinations only. The 3¢ small queen has quite a few varieties which are worth more, but the basic one is worth about 50¢. There are different shades which will bring your value up, but the most expensive one (excluding any plate flaws, plate positions, error stamps etc. That I don't know about) is the either mo tidal or ottawa printing (my catalog is contradicting itself on which it is). That one is worth several hundred. The easiest way to find out which one you have would be to go to your library and check out their stamp catalogs for canadian stamps. The one thing you would probably have to get is a perforation gauge, to measure the perforations to determine which stamp it is. One thing about catalogs, though- the prices listed are not what you would get if you sold it. You would probably get between 10% and 40% of the catalog prices, and if it was the most common variety I doubt you could find someone to purchase it. If that's the case, it would be best just to keep it as an interesting heirloom of 140 years ago.

There are several ways of selling a collection. One is to do it yourself through an online auction house. Another is to place it on consignment with a philatelic auction house. You could offer to sell it to a friend. Perhaps a dealer in your area would buy it. You might want to visit the dealer to see if there is any particular value to it.

Most USSR Stamps from 1970s through its collapse have very little value. You can often buy them for as little as 5% of Scott Catalogue value in bulk. Your best bet would be to browse eBay to find out the real market value (don't look at just the prices being charged but look for auctions that actually closed successfully with buyers). Older stamps as well as several specific issues (such as the World Wildlife Foundation issues) have some interest and sells for relatively high price. Collections also in year sets (i.e. sets that contains all of the stamps issued in the year) have good demands.

'Adhesive' simply means that they were stuck on to the letters and weren't simply put on with metal or wooden dies and ink. Postage stamps were introduced in Britain in May 1840 for use throughout the country. The second country was Brazil.

I am assuming you are talking about a US stamp and want to use it for US postage.

You can, if i it s uncanceled. Of course, it only pays for 27 cents in postage, so you would have to add enough other stamps to pay the required postage for whatever you are mailing. The post card rate is now 28 cents, so you would have to add a 1-cent stamp if you want to use it on a post card.

Oh, of course, friend! If you're referring to the H Rate Makeup stamp for your letters, don't you worry. As long as you have them, you can still use them to send your mail with a little extra love. Keep spreading joy with your letters, just like painting happy little trees.

Although a number of people laid claim to the concept of the postage stamp, it is well documented that stamps were first introduced in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland on 1 May 1840, as a part of postal reforms promoted by Sir Rowland Hill. With its introduction, the postage fee was now to be paid by the sender and not the recipient, though it was still possible to send mail without prepaying. This stamp was issued in 1936. It can be purchased for 18 cents used and 35 cents mint through a dealer. The low price indicates that it is of nominal value and a dealer is not likely to want to purchase a single copy.
