However, it's important to recognize that this stereotype is not representative of all individuals involved in drug dealing, as factors such as poverty, lack of opportunities, and systemic issues can play a role in someone's involvement in this activity.

It has been awhile since I have read the book, but I would argue that the 'Indians' are all described as savage, primitive and mysterious. If it is too difficult to find enough to suppport that, I would talk about the kind of men that went to the North during the gold rush, intending to make their fortune. I'm sure there are lots of stero-types of those men: smart but rough, like the first men that got Buck, or stupidly optimistic.

Men endure many of the same feelings as a woman would when being classed as a certain stereotype. For example- "Gay" is commonly used to imply weakness or that something is not interesting, entertaining etc. i.e. Ben is leaving the football team and his friends say "Oh, well you're gay" Although this may seem harmless it is used to pressure Ben in believing that leaving the team is not a good thing. As a male being told you are 'gay' in whatever sense in a great insult. This is just one example, for there are many ways a male can be hurt by a gender stereotype. Men were raised never to cry and still carry that weight, even when it may be a very reasonable reaction. Today, it is more accepted for a man to show some emotion, but still ,to out right cry, will draw unwanted attention. This can be seen as a, no win situation for him. They are told it's not healty to hold in their emotions, and yet, they feel, it's not healthy to exhibit them either! They are caught between what they feel, what their family's ideals are, what society (friends, co-workers) expect, and what the medical community says is the best. The stress for just this one issue is complex and overpowering. It is no wonder that many times their response in public is either an angry confusion or frustration. Mixed signals can lead you in circles, and sometimes, you just have to try and trust yourself. This is just the top of the ICE-BERG. I'm sure there are many more examples.
