What was he stereotype of venetian women in Othello?
That they were hungry lovers and never satisfied. This makes Othello feel more isolated due to his naivety. Hence the quotation: 'The cunning whore of Venice/ That married Othello.' Once Othello has fallen for Iago's manipulations he describes Desdemona as a 'cunning whore' and links her lack of fidelity to her origin. Deriving from the sexuality of Venetian women, he goes on to describe himself in the third person. In doing so Othello distances himself from the marital bond which he made. He wants escapism and distance from the innocent women, whom he is convinced has betrayed him, just like her Father. As Brabantio says: 'She has deceived me and may thee'. This foreshadowing and ominous warning is believed by Othello and he is inclined to believe she has been unfaithful. However Shakespeare's ironic cruelty becomes evident as in fact Desdemona is innocent and falsely accused.

What is one stereotype in The Call of the Wild and why?
It has been awhile since I have read the book, but I would argue that the 'Indians' are all described as savage, primitive and mysterious. If it is too difficult to find enough to suppport that, I would talk about the kind of men that went to the North during the gold rush, intending to make their fortune. I'm sure there are lots of stero-types of those men: smart but rough, like the first men that got Buck, or stupidly optimistic.

Common stereotypes of politicians include being greedy for power and money, being dishonest or untrustworthy, and putting personal interests above the needs of the people they serve. They are often seen as out of touch with the everyday concerns of the general population.

How do gender stereotypes hurt men?
Men endure many of the same feelings as a woman would when being classed as a certain stereotype. For example- "Gay" is commonly used to imply weakness or that something is not interesting, entertaining etc. i.e. Ben is leaving the football team and his friends say "Oh, well you're gay" Although this may seem harmless it is used to pressure Ben in believing that leaving the team is not a good thing. As a male being told you are 'gay' in whatever sense in a great insult. This is just one example, for there are many ways a male can be hurt by a gender stereotype. Men were raised never to cry and still carry that weight, even when it may be a very reasonable reaction. Today, it is more accepted for a man to show some emotion, but still ,to out right cry, will draw unwanted attention. This can be seen as a, no win situation for him. They are told it's not healty to hold in their emotions, and yet, they feel, it's not healthy to exhibit them either! They are caught between what they feel, what their family's ideals are, what society (friends, co-workers) expect, and what the medical community says is the best. The stress for just this one issue is complex and overpowering. It is no wonder that many times their response in public is either an angry confusion or frustration. Mixed signals can lead you in circles, and sometimes, you just have to try and trust yourself. This is just the top of the ICE-BERG. I'm sure there are many more examples.

What are examples of stereotyping?
An example of a sterotype is that when my friends and I went kayaking on the river exe we went to a shop where you could hire kayaks and then we went kayaking it was great fun. When we got back we needed to get changed from our wet clothes but the only place to get changed was the public toilets. The public toilets had quite a large area outside the cubicles, but as lots of people would have to come in to use the toilets and there were only three cubicles we got changed in the area outside the cubicles. So we were getting changed, not noisily just chatting, we weren't blocking any sinks or handryers, but this women comes in. There is lots of space for her to get through, my friends parents are just outside and there is a cubicle free for her to use. She sees us and looks at us weirdly, so my friend politely explains that it is the only place to get changed.
Suddenly she starts shouting at us saying that we should not use the toilets for such a purpose, saying that we were prbably taking drugs in there etc etc... So I apologise and then she gets so weird, shouting at us, lecturing us about gun and knife crime, smoking, alcohol, underage pregnancy, all those stereotypes. It's like but I;m against all those things, I hate those things, I would never carry a gun, smoke etc...
I was really annoyed it was like what a sterotypical cow.
I'm quite a calm person (except when I'm writing) so I ask her if she wants us to go outside and get changed in the street.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
