If you have the stomach flu just ride it out, there's nothing you can do. Fast for the first day or 2 and then start with water, tea and toast. If this is not the flu you need to see a doctor.

If it's heavy, you're more likely to have headaches, nausea, fatigue, bloating, etc. On light days, the only known symptom most women have is fatigue. Take an anti-inflammatory such as Advil or take Naproxen (Aleve). Those two have been known to help the best when it comes to headaches and cramps that go with a period. This is normal, it's part of the menstrual cycle. If you just became a woman, then it is normal to have irregular flows. If three years has gone by since you became a woman and you are still having irregular flows, then talk to your doctor.

Usually a firm nodule in the area mentioned is a lymph gland... You say it's sometimes inflamed, but not red or painful...? Those two terms are usually indicative of inflammation (redness and pain)... What do you see when it IS inflamed?
