How did staircases and ramps help defend castles?
Staircases in castle towers always turned counter-clockwise. This had the result that the usually right-handed defenders - most often the ones standing above - always could use their left arm to steady themselves against the wall and they could use their right arm to wield their weapons; this was also the side where there was the most room to swing them.
The attackers on the other hand apart from having to fight upwards, had their right arm and in most cases also their weapons on the side of the wall which made swinging them difficult. And the fact that they could not fight and use the wall for balance at the same time put them at a further disadvantage. With the absence of railings, losing your balance meant falling to your death.
A ramp (a gently sloping passage to a higher level) was mostly useful to wheel catapults and later, cannon to a defensive position instead of having to haul them up the stairs.
What does it mean when yr goldfish keeps eating stones then spits them out again?
Your fish is trying to make a sense of home that he has built, merely by doing the process you explained he is making a sense of security within his territory, trust me I am a fish person, and have the same quire in the past. The best thing to do is clean his bowl out regularly and keep an eye on him, he feels insecure. So just make his home nice and let him get on with it it's natures way
Hope this helped

Why are chalets built the way they are?
1. The high pitched roofs are designed to shed the snow of an alpine winter--otherwise, the weight of snow would eventually cave them in. The broad eaves also are related to protecting the area immediately adjacent to the house from deep snow. 2. In early chalet houses, the smaller ground floor was used as a barn, and the family lived above, taking advantage of the rising heat produced by the animals as well as keeping the living level above the snow.

What were circular stone keep castles?
A Round Keep was one of the strongest castle designs. A round tower would not have any sharp corners that prevented the view of the archers. It would provide a broad view for the soldiers. There would also not be any weak corners that the enemy could tunnel under and collapse a wall. Also, a Round Tower would allow enemy missiles to bounce and slide off the smooth walls.

i work in the tea rooms at the castle, and 3 of my friends that also work there have seen 'the butler' a man who was supposedly a murder; and sometimes we mess around and pretend to 'speek' to there ghosts and when mentioning 'Lord Harrington' we've heard footsteps and doors slamming; there is also a little boy named William who still roams the castle, and throws balls and things around; there is also supposed to be a woman who still stands on the roof of the castle, who a costumer's child was crying about saying that she was going to jump off the roof and kill herself, (we later found out that a woman had actually died this way many years ago) and the white lady, who many of the people who viste the castle have supposedly seen with a dog :)
