Well as per my experience, hair did not grow back but I did not loose any hair after discounting.
Juanita I would suggest that maybe you can give your child vitamins with his medicine. My 5 year old son takes a Sesame Street vitamin with his Adderall in the morning. It acts as a reward to him. They are very tasty to him as well.It got easier with us after we started using the vitamins. So maybe you can take a Cartoon Character that he/she obsesses about and get them in a vitamin
What medicines can you not take with Strattera?
with strattera you should not take any adhd meds or abuse any medications because then it definitely will not work
Strattera was a complete waste of time for me. Lots of side effects and no efficacy.
Adderall XR is much better.
Strattera seems to be useful for about 1/2 those who take it.
Plus it's very new.
Effects of low doses of stimulants are very well understood over time. NOT SO with Strattera, despite all the fancy marketing material.
I had exact same experience as above post. Maybe Strattera is good at treating hyperactivity, but for motivation and drive it's terrible!
Same here. Personally, I think Strattera is a drug they give people at first to see who's just trying to get speed from Dr.s and who wants to really get help. If you go through the hoops, I guess they assume your genuine.
My doctor pescribed me strattera and when i took it i felt a no energy, i could not pay attention, and i felt depressed but then i took adderal and it was completely diffrent thing
Are nightmares and sleepingwalking a side effect of Strattera in children?

What is the best over the counter cough medication used with Strattera?
We checked with the doctor on OTC medicines with Strattera, and we were open for what ever worked best with our children.
Can daily Strattera usage create a false positive result for methadone on urine dip?
yes i just took one and i had a flase positive for methadone and i have been on a 80mg dose of strattera for a few years
My therapist has told me that it takes a few days for your body to realize theres an added chemical in it. After that, it should be time released as it wont take more than 30 minutes for your body to realize it's there. So my answer is, yes, after your body recognizes it shortly after you take the capsule.
Strattera is very very good for ADD/ADHD, and is the only ADD drug tested for adults. Additionally, it is the only one that is NOT a controlled substance, so doctors can give free samples, call in prescriptions, etc. Also, since it is nonaddictive and not a stimulant or "speed" pill like all the other ADD drugs, there's no abuse potential and no street value for resale.
I'll say this though, you've got to stick through the first couple of months while your body gets used to it. It's not that disruptive, but it kind of dries you out so you'll get thirsty a lot, and could get some constipation if you don't exercise and/or take some fiber. Just get some Metamucil or Wallmucil - it's good for you anyway. Strattera made my tongue tingle some when it metabolized (about 1.5 hours after taking), but it wasn't painful or anything. I actually liked it because I could tell that help was on the way.
I found that for the first few months, there were days when I would start crying at 2 p.m. It didn't last long, but I know another female who had the same thing on Strattera - just at a different time. IT"S WORTH IT - DON"T STOP TAKING IT!
So that's in the short-term, and none of those things happen now. Here's the long term. I haven't felt hungry since I started taking Strattera more than 3 years ago, so I have to remind myself to eat three times a day. I just eat breakfast and then put on two bracelets. I take one off when I eat lunch, and the same for dinner. So I can tell if I've eaten. But I still went from 180 to 145.
AND, females and their doctors need to know that for whatever reason, starting your period will reduce the dosage's effectiveness for the first day or so. No explanation there, but again, that's what happens with me and with another female I know who takes it. So the doctor gave me a few 18 mg "boosters" and I'll take one the day before I start my period and the other the day I start. Fixes the problem. Strangely, that also keeps me taking my meds, because for that one day, I get a close-up reminder of how things used to be before I took Strattera, and I don't want to go back to that.
How long does it take to work? Started on a Thursday afternoon, could begin telling the difference by Monday. It ramps up over a few weeks. Unlike the other ADD meds, it carries over til morning.
I know it's just for ADD/ADHD, but as someone who got ADD after a Traumatic Brain Injury, for me the best thing was that it fixed the terrible light sensitivity I had (I used to have to wear sunglasses even in the rain), and the mass sleeping I used to do (12 - 16 hours a day), and the depression. Now I'm finishing law school, and I wasn't able to keep any job after I was injured, because of the sleeping and extreme ADD. So, how do I feel about Strattera? You'll get it away from me when you pry it from my cold, dead hands!
Would Strattera help your bipolar?
Answer: I am not a doctor, but my best guess is no. According to the black box warning you should inform your doctor before starting Strattera if you have bipolar disorder. It has been shown to cause suicidal thoughts in children under the age of 18. hope this helps. ***** Answer: I am not a doctor, but my best guess is no. According to the black box warning you should inform your doctor before starting Strattera if you have bipolar disorder. It has been shown to cause suicidal thoughts in children under the age of 18. hope this helps. ***** The movement between highs and lows in bipolar is called cycling. ADHD drugs, stimulants such as Ritalin, and the non-stimulant, Strattera, can make this cycling worse (rapid cycling). If you have bipolar, you should not be taking an ADHD medication unless your doctor feels benefits outweigh the risks. Talk to your doctor to learn more and never be afraid to get a second opinion.
Where can I find a doctor willing to prescribe Ritalin without hassle in Sydney?
If you feel you cannot focus on your work, school, tasks at home, etc., and you cannot control symptoms yourself, see a doctor and tell them you're concerned with your ability to focus. They may be willing, on their own, to talk about treatment options such as Ritalin or Adderall. An easier (but more expensive) way to get a prescription for Ritalin is to demonstrate to that doctor that you have ADD or ADHD. A neuropsychological report (about $2500 here in the USA) written by a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist is definitive proof of such a condition. You will need to be tested for an array of things, and the testing takes about 5 or 6 hours. Of course, if the tests indicate a different problem or are not conclusive regarding ADD or ADHD, all bets are off.
There are many options and many doctors, but remember: the only sure way to not get a drug prescribed for you is to ask a doctor for it. First build rapport with the doctor and demonstrate that you are a responsible adult, then you may be able to take part in a decision regarding "pharmacological" treatment.
The sale or transfer of any controlled substance to anyone other than for whom it was intended (prescribed) is illegal, and can result in fines and/or jail time. Also, abuse of a controlled substance is illegal as well.
Sure, most drugs can be prescribed for extended periods of time. Certainly antidepressants (Strattera is a failed antidepressant) are prescribed as such. No studies have examined the long-term effects of Strattera, and therefore it is not recommended that Strattera be used in the long-term. In fact, the Strattera drug information specifically states,"Strattera is not for long-term use." Be careful with drugs like Strattera (antidepressants in general): their specific effects on the brain and their long-term effects are not well-known. These drugs can permanently alter your brain chemistry and cause a variety of secondary effects (for which you'll be prescribed more medications). Of course, this is just my opinion, and it is based on anecdotal evidence. Be cautious.
Does anyone have info on Strattera causing psychosis?
I experienced what I believe was psychosis while driving. I had been taking straterra for 1 week when this occurred. I felt detached from reality, like I was seeing the world through the eyes of another person. I began having serious thoughts of suicide and went into what I believe was a full fledged panic attack. I pulled over and asked my wife to drive and I have since decided to not take strattera anymore or ever again. It was the most terrifying experience of my life.
Can Strattera cause vaginal itching and burning almost like a constant yeast infection?
i think it has for me...
Does Strattera come in any other form than pill?
Answer: Currently it does not. There are no generic forms of Atomoxetine HCL yet either.
Has Strattera been approved for use in the military?
My boyfriend is active Navy, mid-rank sailor. A (stupid) Navy doctor prescribed it for him. He was in the middle of a Billet shift anyway, and they claimed that he was being shifted because of the newly diagnosed ADD and Straterra. That wasn't the case, but that's beside the point.
Anyway, the Navy does accept Straterra, however, a word of caution. It could change his job and also the duties he is approved to perform.
Also, I would STRONGLY encourage you to consider a different drug. Straterra has horrible sexual side effects for some men. For us, it has been devistating.
Please feel free to use my e-mail for more direct/detailed questioning. :) Good luck! ~Lisa
Depends on the person. It affects nonadrenaline and adrenaline. It usually works like a downer but if you get scared or something youll feel crazy burts of insane energy, happened to me. I was playing dodgeball and I got hit in the head and I had a mini heart attack
Has anyone experienced tremors or vocal tics while taking Strattera?
ADHD and Tourette's syndrome are closely related; some people have both of these together. When a physician is initially screening someone for ADHD, he or she should ask about vocal tics to see if the patient also may have Tourette's. Strattera (or any of the other ADHD medications) can sometimes bring out these behaviors in people (not cause them--just "unmask" them). If this is happening to you, speak with your physician.
Hope this helps!
Dr. B.
How do you get off Strattera faster?
I just took my 15 year old off 60mgs a day cold turkey. She was on for a year and a half. She is doing fine today is day four.
Should a child be taken off of Strattera for the summer?
As a parent of an ADHD child and a psychiatrist I would say that most children should not be taken off of the ADHD treatment for the summer. There are studies showing that children need to be able to focus to be able to attend to facial expressions and learn to understand how their behavior or choices impact other children. Untreated children, especially boys, may not learn appropriate social behavior. As strattera cannot be used "as needed" the way stimulant can, it would have to be restarted weeks before school starts anyway.
Prozac reuptakes serotonin and is in the class of drugs called SSRIs...strattera is an NRI, a norepinephine reuptake inhibitor, so it works on a totally different class of brain chemials.
serotonin is an inhibitory neurotransmitter while norepinephrine is exitatory.
serotonin=sleepy, content, feelin good, satisfied
norepinephrine=able to concentrate, alert, awake, refreshed
