Sunburn

Well, whenever I get a sunburn I usually put aloe vera gel on it. It makes the burn feel cold and I find that it helps the burning feeling alot.

There is a melanin protection on your skin, but when you get a sunburn that means the sun broke through it because you have been out in the sun too long.

Sun burns can change the DNA of the skin cells a little while also making the skin feel leathery. It also lowers the immune system's reaction time temporarily.

you might be but skin sometimes naturaly peels. If the peeling doesn't stop in a few days call a doctor.

Keep the skin cool, by applying a cool-damp towel, cold compress (do not use ice)to the affected skin or take a cool bath.

Keep the skin moist by apply moisturizing cream (non-oil based), aloe vera cream or gel or other over the counter sunburn products (check with your pharmacist).

Leave blisters alone. Do not break them, that will slow down the healing process and risk an infection. To protect the blisters, lightly cover with a non-stick sterile gauge pad.

If necessary, take a pain reliever such as, Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin or other). Follow label instructions.

Take the pain reliever until redness and soreness is alleviated.

Skin that is peeling should be treated gently. Within a few days when the affected area begins to peel continue using moisturizing cream.

Use sunscreen liberally and frequently to prevent further damage to your sunburn. Some studies have shown that we only use half of the recommended amount.

There are three types of rays- UVA, UVB and UVC. UVB and UVA act differently upon our skin and do not equally damage it. The UVB rays are mostly responsible for most cases of sunburn, as they are shorter than UVA rays. The UVA rays are longer so reach the inner state of the skin and causes skin damage.

2nd Degree Burn- This can be caused from touching a hot surface for a split second or prolonged sun damaged. This causes cell damage in the dermis and causes a boil or any kind of bump on the skin due to heat exposure.

3rd Degree Burn- Is widely known as the worst burn you can get though i will explain one more type after this that is worse. This burns down into the subcutaneous layer of skin and damages some muscle tissues, blood vessels, hair follicles and the part of the body that allows us to grow more skin. Usually requires a skin graft and intensive care at a hospital or emergency department. Usually hair and skin will not regrow from a 3rd degree burn.

4rd Degree Burn- This is a burn that goes all the way down to the muscles and bones. It is life threatening and unrepairable for the most part. It can cause damage to the bone marrow which could cause a red blood cell deficiency.

If the burn is bad enough you can smell a difference. It would have to a 2nd or 3rd degree burn though.
