Why were castles built after the Battle of Hastings?
William Duke of Normandy wanted a cheese sandwich but a really evil man said i have hidden the tomato ,cheese, lettiuce and butter so the new king was just left with a bread bun and for you to get them back i want you to build a building that looks like this the evil man showed him the picture or the object he had designed and named it a castle. How was Edgar the Atheling related to Edward the Confesser?
Edgar the Ætheling was the great-nephew of Edward the Confessor.
Edward the Confessor was a son of King Æthelræd II (known as Ethelred "the Unready"). Æthelræd lost a war against Canute of Denmark and fled the country.
Edward's older brother was called Edmund Ironside and he ruled as king in part of England briefly in 1016 before he was assassinated by Danish spies.
Edmund Ironside had two sons; Edmund and Edward - both of whom were exiled in Hungary after King Canute of Denmark conquered the rest of England in 1016.
Edward the Confessor was exiled in Normandy after 1016 and was friends with the Normans. When Canute and his son Hardicanute were dead the English royal family returned and they elected Edward the Confessor as king in 1042. However he had no children and wasn't likely to have any (rumour has it he was gay).
The two sons of Edmund Ironside who were sent to Hungary after 1016 still lived. However by 1042 the eldest one, Edmund, had died. His brother, Edward (known as Edward "the Exile"), lived and had a young family in Hungary. One of his children was Edgar "the Ætheling" (born 1051). They returned to England in 1057 but shortly afterwards Edward the Exile died - he was probably poisoned by rivals. That left Edgar "the Ætheling" as the only lawful heir of Edward the Confessor, his great uncle.
When Edward the Confessor died in January 1066 the Witan (a sort of council) chose someone who wasn't royal to be king; Harold II, because they needed a warrior to defend the kingdom and Edgar was only 15. After Harold II was killed in October 1066 at Hastings Edgar briefly became king. He was forced to abdicate in December 1066. Edgar died in 1126 in England.

King Edward said "I command my wife (your sister)and all of my kingdom to your care." All the monks wanted him aswell

Why was William's army better?
It is a mixture Williams men were probably better, however Harold's men had just marched 250 miles north to Stamford Bridge to fight Harald Hadrada, as in September he heard that the vikings had landed also the winds were directing the wrong way for William to cross over to the South Coast. When Harold got to Stamford Bridge the vikings were drunk so it was easy to kill all of them.
But by the time Harold had marched his men up 250 miles (no stops) and down 250 miles (no stops) they were exhausted, but they arrived to find the winds had changed direction and William had landed. They fought for 9 and a half hours and then William came up with a good tactic, to get his men to fake run away, then Harold's men followed to kill them but Williams men turned round and killed them. Eventually Harold died and William won.
Why are the years 1066 and 1215 important to English history?
The year 1066 was the year that Harold II of England defeated the forces of Hardrada and Tostig of Norway, preventing England from becoming one of the Scandanavian countries. It was also the year when William, Duke of Normandy successfully invaded England and became King William I after his victory at The Battle of Hastings when Harold II was killed.
Many British historians count the period between 1066 and the end of The Wars of the Roses in 1485 as "The Middle Ages" or "The Medieval Period."

Why did Harold and the Saxons lose the battle of hastings?
The battle all came down to which side was the most disciplined. The Saxon army was made up of mainly farmer/warriors who joined up at the request of the king (Harold). A large number of Williams forces were full time cavalry troops with the bulk of the army made up from the ranks of the populous, which came from a warrior ancestry (the Vikings). At the battle the Saxons occupied the high ground at Hastings and formed a impenetrable defensive wall, providing the Saxon warriors did not leave the line. The Norman cavalry tried time and time again to brake through but failed. It looked like the Saxons had won but a section in the line spotted William, who was in amongst his cavalry trying to raise moral. This section of the Saxon line went chasing after him ( this is where discipline comes in) leaving a vulnerable opening in the Saxon line which the Normans exploited and broke down the Saxon army.
