Toothpaste is used to clean our teeth . In the basic word's teeth has an acid called as lactic acid. The tooth enamel is attacked by the acid and causes tooth decay. Toothpastes contain alkaline substances that helps to neutralize and remove the acid in the mouth. Saliva in our mouth also plays a similar role. The enzyme Ptyalin that is found in the saliva is slightly alkaline and can help to remove the acid particularly after a meal.

All toothpaste is is paste with baking soda (baking soda is the main cleansing agent) and fluoride (which you don't need on a daily basis) and pretty packaging which dupes the gullible and senile into thinking it's some great omen of the millennial age.
