What is bigger a trombone or bugle?
It depends on the size of the trombone and the size of the bugle!
A typical tenor trombone is longer in length than a military-type bugle; however, a soprano trombone is MUCH smaller than a bass bugle used in a drum and bugle corps ensemble.

How much can you sell your used trombone for?
You can sell a used trombone for anywhere between $100-2000 depending on the trombone. Most used trombones are listed for sale around $300-400 though. As with all musical instruments, they pretty much lose 25% of their value when you buy them new from a music store, so don't expect to be getting the same price you paid for it new.
Look on Ebay, I have just bought an LP that way. The title is Trumpet On The Wing - Wingy Manone. I have copies of the few recordings he made with Sidney Bechet and he plays wonderfully. Please contact me Kathy on remsys@ukart.com, best wishes, Mac.

What does a trombone f attachment do?
A trombone F attachment consists of a rotary valve (similar to what is found on American made French horns) and an additional length of tubing in the bell section of the instrument so that when the valve is activated or rotated, air passes through the additional length of tubing to change the Bb trombone down a perfect fourth to the key of F. The F attachment is used primarily for the player to reach notes in the lower register of the intrument that are impossible in the instrument's natural overtone series and also to play notes in closer positions that are normally only produced in sixth or seventh positions on a normal or straight trombone.
What does small shnk and large shank mean for trombone mouthpieces?
Different trombones have different size openings for the mouthpiece. Tenors, especially those without F attachments, generally use small-shank mouthpieces. Large shanks are usually for euphoniums and bass trombones.

A good one is about $15 - $20 bucks. a cheaper case can be found for about 10 bucks.

What brand of trombone is good for soloing in jazz?
Most big name instrument companies make trombones. Yamaha, Bach, Conn, Holton, etc all make very good student model horns. Edwards and Shire are more expensive, but in my opinion they have superior craftsmanship. They also make custom trombones.
How is a trombone easily recognised?
A trombone is one of the easiest recognized instruments since there are very few other instruments that are similar (i.e. clarinet and oboe).
A trombone is generally made up of two pieces joined together where the main hand holds the instrument. The lower piece looks like and skinny but long stretched "U" while the upper piece is a similar shape but flares out into the "bell" of the horn.
A trombone is normally made of brass or a like metal and can come in a variety of colors dependent upon the manufacture. An example is that Yamaha makes a tri-colored trombone... very elegant looking.
When fully assembled, the trombone is one continuous piece of metal similarly shaped as a widely stretched "S" beginning at the mouth piece and continues to the Bell. The standard trombone, unlike nearly all other instruments, does not have any valves, keys, or strings. The sound and notes are produced by elongating the slide into one of seven positions. Moving the slide in or out will change the note higher or lower based on the needs of the musician.
In addition to the standard trombone, there are variations that are available. The valve trombone is similar in shape, but has valves like a trumpet or cornet and has a fixed slide.
A triggered trombone has become popular with musicians who have graduated from beginner to a more advanced level of play. These triggered trombones look like a standard "S" trombone, but on the upper portion of the instrument has a value, similar to a French Horn, to divert the air and change the note. This is generally seen as an "F" attachment trombone but can be in other keys. This attachment, in the "F" range is generally used to eliminate the need to position the slide into the seventh position or to quickly change notes without having to move the slide.
Finally, there is another trombone commonly called a Super Bone or Super Trombone. This trombone is tricky to play, but produces incredibly unique sounds and the master of the Super Bone is a talented musician. A Super Bone combines the valves of the valve trombone with the slide and trigger of a regular trombone. This trombone like as unique and amazing as it sounds. This trombone can be played slide only, valve only, or a combination of both at the same time.

How do you play a trigger b flat on a tenor trombone?
You ask to play a "trigger b flat?" Let's assume that you are asking, "How do I play a Bb using the F-trigger on a trombone?"
My first answer would be, "Why would you even want to? Bb is first position without the use of the trigger."
But, if this is purly experimental, remember that the low C is played with the trigger and the slide at slightly "flat first" position. B is "flat second"...so it figures that Bb would follow at "flat third" position. The Bb on top of the staff would be played in third position since C is in first position.
