How do you know if you are on the right diagonal in trot?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

From April Reeves, Horseman's U.com: Diagonals were created to enhance and improve the movement of the horse as you post. Diagonals allow the outside front leg (in a bend) to extend farther (it has more distance to travel) AND to allow weight OFF the inside leg during the rise of that leg, since it carries the majority of the weight when circling or bending. “Rise and fall with the front leg on the wall” is often used to describe ‘when’ to rise the post, but when no wall is present, you rise with the outside front leg to the bend you are riding. If you are riding a straight line, you can ride either diagonal, especially on the trail. To keep you and your horse from tiring quickly or getting sore, change your diagonal often.

With the Norman stock not fast enough for the French, they started breeding that horse with English thoroughbreds. They also continued to keep working on a new breed so English Hunter stallions were added to the mix and eventually mixing all those breeds with the Norfolk Roadster making a French Trotter.

At a high level of horse riding horse riders sit level of the horse?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The rider should not sit in the front or the back, but should be dead center, so they do not throw the horse off balence. Like if tyou sit on a barrel on its side and lean back, the barrel will tip up. If you lean forward, the barrel will tip back. If you sit in the center, the barrel will stay in place. This sounds easy, but it is very difficult to master staying in the center all the time, but it is essential to a good ride.

How do you keep sauces from gelling up?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

corn flour There are several methods for thickening sauces. One is to add a roux that is a thin paste made by combining flour with melted butter or heated oil (any type of fat actually). Another way is to add milk and heat it slowly over time to reduce it. Or you can simply reduce it if it contains fatty ingredients already. Corn starch or arrowroot can be added to thicken a sauce, but it is best to mix these with cold water, milk, or other liquid before adding to the sauce, and to add it to the sauce while stirring and in small amounts until the desired thickness is achieved. Most of these methods will lighten the color of your sauce, or whiten it, with the exception of arrowroot and simple reduction.

What is the difference between King's English and Queen's English?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

They are the same. While a king reigns, it is the King's English. While a queen reigns, it is the Queen's English

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The monarch of England is sometimes a king and sometimes a queen (at the present time, March 2013, it is Queen Elizabeth II) but the English language does not change; it is the monarch's English. We just use different terms to reflect the identity of the reigning monarch.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The expression "the queen's English" refers to the reigning British monarch. Since English currently has a queen, and has for almost 60 years, the proper expression is "the queen's English."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I suppose when Charles becomes king, the expression might change to "the king's English."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ACTUALLY, the expression "The King's English" refers to a title of a book written by the Fowler brothers in 1906, which deals with the English language, its pronunciation, etc. A book's title does not change just because a monarch changes. Therefore, it is "The King's English", regardless of whether the current monarch is male or female.

What do you call a country of only one race?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It means that this particular country mainly (or even completely) consists of only one race.

For example, Japan is being said to be a "one race" country. Meaning, japanese people mainly marry amongst themselves and therefore do not "mix". You could also use the expression "homogenous nation". But this concept is being criticizied a lot.

How can you keep your legs still when rising to the trot?

User Avatar

Asked by Horselover1994

You can keep your legs still at a posting or rising trot by squeezing with your knee calves. If you squeeze with just your knee calves, from there down to the stirrups it should be still. Unless you have a horse like me where you have to bump him in a rhythmic motion to keep him at an extended trot. So the answer is to squeeze more with you knee calves instead of using your feet to post.

What would cause the voltage gauge to keep flickering up and down?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Either a bad ground to the guage itself or a bad voltage regulator in the alternator. While the enigine is running check the voltage at the battery it should be around 13.5volts if it constantly fluctuates then the voltage regulator is probably bad. Replace the alternator. Otherwise make sure your grounds are good.

Can you jump a gaited horse?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes, with proper training and care gaited horses can jump.

When you have people who say gaited horses can't jump, what they are basically saying is that "no, a horse can't jump." which is false. Horses need basics to survive (aside from food, water, shelter, ect.) they need strength and agility without that horses won't be able to survive at all. Jumping is one of those instincts horses do. If a horse can't jump in the wild, especially if its getting chased by a predator and there's a log in the way, then the horse would stop and it will die. Horses have agility and yes THEY CAN JUMP. Don't let people fool you because jumping is one of many horse natural abilities. However, you need to train gaited horses before you go all crazy, remember that gaited horses don't have the same muscles as non-gaited horses do, just do some training and hire a trainer to help you. ALL horses can jump the trainer and the rider just need to put their heart into it.
