What GPA and ACT or SAT scores are required by a college like Northwestern University?

Check this out. The scores of the students are laid out towards the bottom. It seems like if you're over 600 in math and verbal on the SAT and over 24 on the ACT, you're within the range. I was looking for the same thing and whew! I'm safe. Obviously, that's no guarantee.

What GPA and SAT scores are required by a college like the University of California berkely?

Have you tried going to the web page for the college you are looking at and seeing if they have the requirements for admission posted somewhere on the web page. more than 1660

I'm not sure if you just meant a larger, strong institution like UW, or UW in particular, but I know that UW admissions is a highly heuristic process, particularly based on your application essay. Weak students with a penchant for diversity and a willingness to learn are often accepted over boring, but academically strong students. Generally speaking, a 3.5GPA and an 1800+ SAT are solid, but your essay will likely mean more in the midst of the flood of "good" student applications they receive each quarter. Mostly based on numbers. especially your gpa. around 4.0 if not, higher.

Why does the University of Oklahoma refer to itself as OU instead of UO?

Tradition. If it has "State" in the name it's always "Blah State U.", but if it doesn't, it could go either way. Most seem to prefer "University of Blah" Michigan Texas North Carolina Florida Georgia Illinois California Chicago Houston but some prefer "Blah U." Oklahoma Indiana Seems like those not named after a specific place are always like this Purdue Rutgers Tulane Harvard Leland Stanford Junior Northwestern Who knows why. Just seems to roll off the tongue better.
