What is the salary for recruits during basic training?

You earn whatever the basic pay for your pay grade is. If you've enlisted as an E-1, then you get paid the same as any other E-1. In some cases, you might be able to enlist as an E-2, E-3, or E-4, due to prior service, other previous qualifications, university credit, etc.

How do you find US army basic training yearbook?

Sometimes you'll happen across them at military surplus stores, militaria auctions, and the like. If there's one you're looking for specifically, that could be a bit more difficult. I'm looking at mine from 1998, and see no publisher listed. You may wish to contact the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), and see if they would be willing to help (see related link).

What happens if you never get on the plane to go to navy boot camp will you be discharged?

You will be considered AWOL (Absent Without Leave). If you have not reported or been apprehended within 27 days, you will be considered a Deserter, a serious offense in peace time, even more serious in war time. An imprisonable offense either way.

If you are considering going AWOL, consider this:

  • If you report, you will go to boot camp, serve six years and come home. You will have some good times, some not so good times, and you might meet that special someone you would have otherwise never had the opportunity to meet.
  • If you go AWOL, you will live a life of hiding. You will spend the next 27 years trying to dodge first AWOL Apprehension, then the FBI and US Marshall service. Likely as not, the feds will never get your case; AWOL Apprehension is that good. You will then be tossed in the brig, and you will want to consider protective custody because deserters are considered the lowest of the low. Once you receive your Court Marshall, you will be transferred to Leavenworth, where you will do what you are told when you are told how you are told. You will not receive enough food, you will be worked at hard labor (literally making little rocks out of big ones). You will not see your family often enough. You will live in a six foot by nine foot cell with at least one other person. While you are reading or trying to write a letter, or even trying to eat, your cell mate will be emptying his bowels two feet away.
This is not made up. This is intended to show you a true picture, to expose you to the facts, and let you decide.

If you go AWOL, you will be discharged, but not before you are brought up on charges and convicted. You will serve your time too before you ever get released. That time will be five times greater than the time you might serve for a standard enlistment.

True, you could lose your life in the service of your country. You may not even agree with the political reasons that got us into the wars, but we're there, and you volunteered--there is no draft, there is no compulsory service in the US. You may be scared, everyone gets scared. What you do with that fear is another matter.

I'll leave you with this. The fear you face on a battle field is pale in comparison to the fear you face behind the wire. On the battlefield you have a choice or many choices. Inside the choices are made for you. Take it from someone who has been in both.

What happens if you enlisted in the navy and get your girlfriend pregnant a few months before boot camp?

Since you're not married, nothing - the military isn't interested in girlfriends, boyfriends, their kids, or anything other than legal dependents for benefits and contract purposes. In other words, the Navy doesn't care if sailors have a girl in every port, or even if each one has one or more kids, but they're only going to give you benefits for any that you're legally responsible for via some type of valid marriage.

If you do get married, it will alter the circumstances of your enlistment contract, and any new dependents will have to be noted and documented before you actually become active duty, so if you do become legally married, make sure you let your recruiter know about it.

If I do Army OCS and pass Basic training but wash out of OCS school am I still required to serve as an enlisted soldier?

Yes. While officers are the pampered few, and may leave military service pretty much any time they choose by "resigning" their commission, washing out of OCS does not raise you to the ranks of officer. Therefore, being a grunt like the vast majority of those who serve, you have a contract. That contract is binding. You will be required to fulfill the terms of that contract. You will serve your time.

When you get married after boot camp does the military give you a house right away?

How much muscle do you put on at marines boot camp?

You get a bit more bigger than what you go in with. You mostly get muscle stamina so you do more repititions. you lose pretty much all that extra fat you had. but mostly you gain stamina in every thing from muscle to running. they don't lift weights so you wont come out real bulky. most guys come out a little bit leaner or thiner than when they went in. it also depends on your body mass to. i knew a little guy that was 5'6 155lbs and he pumped out 96 pull ups and most of the big dudes did around 30-40. if you go in heavy, you'll most likely come out with alot of extra weight gone. if you go in all buff from lifting weights, it will be way harder on you. practice pull ups and pushups and run and don't forget sit ups. use your body weight.

Will army boot camp make you a hard core soldier?

No, only you can do that. Basic Trainging only prepares you by indoctirnating you with military knowledge, and physical training to prepare you for being a soldier. How "hardcore" you are is a matter of your personality and what you choose to do with your personal experiences.

Actually, "hardcore" in terms of soldiering is more about your ability to do your job, do it effectively, and do it with humility. Every soldier long to be tested in battle (until they get there) and always prays for peace. Soldiering is a contradiction in existence.
