What is the class level of an army accident that results in death?
An army accident that results in death is Class A.
Class A-an Army accident in which the resulting total cost of property damage is $1,000,000 or more; an Army aircraft or missile is destroyed, missing, or abandoned; or an injury and/or occupational illness results in a fatality or permanent total disability.
The US Army Airborne School does not release death statistics. They do happen, however, they are far less than civilian skydiving deaths. This is because students who go through Airborne School receive extensive training on how to land and what to do in the case of an mid-jump emergency, such as a chute getting tangled or a chute not opening completely. This is all done before they even get in the plane to jump. They even jump off a series of towers, ranging from 35 to 250 feet, to learn how to land properly and how to depoly their chutes. Eventually, they learn how to peform a static-line jump from the back of a C-130 at 1,250 feet.
Because of the nature of a static line jump, the jumper does not have to worry about deploying their chute, as it is already done for them by the static line. However, injuries from static line jumps can happen. The most common types are leg and back injuries from improper landings, such as forgeting to keep your knees loose and not in a locked position. This can break your leg or compress your spine. Concussions have also occured from jumpers hitting their head as they land.
Another common type of injury are burns from the parachute line itself. Sometimes, the parachute line can rub across your neck and cause abrasions, called riser burn. This happens when you don't keep your chin against your chest when your chute deploys.
What special forces group has the longest basic training?
US Air Force PJ's(Pararescue Jumpers) and CCT's(Combat Controller's) training pipelines take more than a year to complete. This training includes scuba diving, static line and free fall parachuting, land navigation, and SERE. PJ's also go on to learn various medical skills and become nationally certified as EMT-Paramedics. CCT's also become FAA-certified air traffic controllers. Because they often operate with other US Special Operations Forces, they must be prepared to work in all environments.
Who has the best snipers Army or Marines?
The US Navy SEALs likely have the best "standard" sniper program with both the best equipment and a relatively long and very intense initial course. Also, NAVSPECWAR (SEALs) tends NOT to be tied to a doctrinal use of snipers allowing them significant flexibility in their training program. This also lends itself to quick transformation of their training and rapid application of combat lessons-learned. This quick flexibility in their program makes for likely better trained personnel.
Once personnel are "sniper qualified", the NAVSPECWAR personnel have significant shooting/training opportunities to keep currency and improve upon their skills unlike some service's personnel, including other SOCOM assets. Of course, this can be argued by the other services (Army, SOCOM, & USMC).
There are also Tier-1 and Other Government Agency (OGA) military sniper programs which are specific to anti-terrorism units and they get the best training and equipment in the world, but are not necessarily a reflection of the service's normal sniper production pipeline.
Yes, Delta is a real counter-terrorism unit within the US Army and JSOC. Most of the unit's details are classified, but twice a year, they perform Army-wide recruiting. They change official names every few years in order to keep foreign intelligence agencies guessing. Their last known names were Army Compartmented Element, or ACE, and Combat Applications Group, or CAG. Their most recent known operations were the rescue of Jessica Lynch and the death of al-Zarqawi.
Can an officer be a field medic in the us army if he chooses to?
Very little you do in the army is because you want to, that said if the officer is already a medical officer, I am sure that he or she could volunteer for field duty as opposed to work in a hospital or clinic, of course there is a non voluntary rotation system called PROFIS which ensures that these slots get filled.
Are the U.S. Marines in The Hunt for Eagle One MARSOC marines or regular infantry marines?

Who are tougher navy seals or army rangers?
Neither. Each unit has it's strengths and weaknesses. SEAL teams will most likely be called in if the target is on the ocean or some other water location or when stealth is a better choice instead of a direct raid. Rangers, as a rapid-deployment unit, specialize in airfield seizures and building raids.
In the Tier system mentioned in the previous answer, the regular SEAL teams are Tier 3, while the Army Rangers are Tier 2. This is because of their mission differences. The Army Rangers are Tier 2 because they are the ones who provide most of the support and reinforcements for the Tier 1 units - Delta and DevGru. The regular SEAL teams and Army Special Forces are Tier 3 because they are not needed as much for JSOC operations. The Tier system is not a measurement of unit toughness. That is a common misconception. It is actually used to determine how much funding each unit receives in order to get what they need to accomplish their mission.
