Yes but you have to get the device unlocked first. All SIM unlock codes are tied to the particular device IMEI and are carrier specific. The request for that code would need to be made from the carrier that the phone was originally manufactured for. Each carrier has their own guidelines as far as what requirements have to be met before that code will be given out. This is a free process in the US.

No. You cannot cancel a contract when you have signed up for it. You have to keep paying every month until your contract finishes. Then you can either upgrade if you can (it depends on which carrier you are on.) or you can buy a new phone.

You need to contact the new company with a MAC code from the company your are leaving in order to transfer to the new supplier/carrier. So you will need to contact Verizon in order to process your transition

Ironic im answering my own question. Well i ended up solving it! if this happens to you this is what you do.

1. the few seconds you have when it turns on use them and start erasing as much stuff as you can before it turns off

2. that's it. it worked for me and all i did was erase 2 messages and 2 pictures and so far it's been an hour and it hasn't messed up yet!

It does NOT mean you have to buy the phone from a US Cellular store. You CAN buy a phone from a friend, eBay, or wherever, but it MUST be US Cellular-branded. Also, phones can be direct-purchased from some manufacturer's, most notably Motorola. They will ask you who you're carrier is, and ship the phone US Cellular-branded. These phones can be activated.
